Highlanders advance in football sectional, defeat Jeff PDF Print E-mail

The Floyd Central Highlanders won their first round game in the Class 5A sectional in football Friday at Jeffersonville 47-20, and Kyle Bramble scored six touchdowns in the win. Bramble had 225 yards on the night.
The win gives the Highlanders (9-1) a date with host Bedford-North Lawrence this Friday.

Pekin-Eastern Alumni Association concert will raise money for scholarships PDF Print E-mail

The Pekin-Eastern Alumni Association, Inc. will present a “Music Concert” at the Eastern High School Performing Arts Center on Saturday, October 22, 2011 starting at 6 p.m. (doors open at 5:30).

The featured performers will be the Lick Creek Band and Pawnshop Guitar.

Tickets will be available at the door and cost $10.00 for adults, $8.00 for students and preschool age kids or younger get in for free.

All proceeds will go to fund scholarships for graduating Eastern seniors. For more information, call Carol Weatherholt at 812-967-3371.

 
NH boys win cross country regional PDF Print E-mail

The North Harrison Cougars won both the boys’ and girls’ individual titles in Saturday’s Crawford County Cross Country Regional, with Johnnie guy clocking in at 16:06.5 for the boys’ and freshman Ashton Bosler clearing the finish line at 19:00.5 for the girls.
The Cougars also handily won the boys’ title with a score of 19, with Floyd Central coming in 4th with a score of 129. The top five teams advance to Saturday’s semi state at Brown County.

Borden outlasts Lanesville in three game volleyball match PDF Print E-mail

Borden won a hard fought, emotional volleyball match from the visiting Lanesville Lady Eagles Thursday at Borden. The score ended up 29-27, 25-21, 26-24. The game could possibly be repeated between the two schools in the 1A volleyball sectional this week.
Borden took a 20-17 lead in the opening game of the three, but still took a time out at this point.
