In the early morning hours of May 16, 2011, the New Albany City Police Department responded to a residence in the 500 block of Camp Avenue in New Albany after a report of an armed home invasion. When officers arrived the female victim reported she was asleep in her bedroom when her inside dog began barking waking her up. When she woke up there were two unknown males in her bedroom. She advised that one of the male invaders had a silver or gray colored handgun that he pointed at her while he threatened her.

North Harrison Band’s plant sale is in 3rd year PDF Print E-mail

The North Harrison Band program is in its third year of selling plants as a fundraiser, and it helps to keep the band program on the move.
The money they raise from the sale, usually held near Mother’s Day every year, is a big fund raiser every year for the band.
A second plant sale is held every year at the beginning of June.

Schedule for June 11 Borden Valley Day PDF Print E-mail

A full list of activities are planed for the annual Borden Valley Day festival.
The all-day event will be June 11 this year.
Activities get underway at 7 a.m. with a hot air balloon launch.
At 8 a.m. there will be a 5k walk/run and a kids run.

Last year, a group of people in Palmyra got together and decided the town needed a festival. Plans were made and the first-ever Pal-Wow, held at Buffalo Trace Park, was not only born, but turned out to be a huge success.
This year’s event, planned for Sept. 17, should be an even bigger success.
One of the organizers of the event, Doug Rothrock, sighted five reasons he things the 2011 Pal-Wow will be better than the 2010 event.

YMCA of Harrison County offers multiple sports clinics PDF Print E-mail

The YMCA of Harrison County is accepting registrations for their summer sports clinics. The Y offers clinics for golf, volleyball, soccer and basketball. Sports are a great way for youth development, one of the key areas of focus by the YMCA of Harrison County. Registration is taking place at the YMCA of Harrison County, located at 198 Jenkins Ct. in Corydon, or by calling 812-734-0770.
The golf clinic is offered to youth in grades 4th through 8th. Participants will learn the basics of golf; grip and stance, pitching, chipping and driving, as well as course etiquette by instructor J.R. Drummond. The golf clinic will take place from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., May 31 through June 3 at the YMCA of Harrison County and Old Capital Golf Club. Cost is $50 for YMCA of Harrison County members and $65 for non-members. Enrolled Y Summer Day campers will receive half off.
