The PGA of America is pleased to provide all credentialed media with information pertaining to the 96th PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky. This is the Notebook for Thursday, Aug. 7.

CHAPPELL, PALMER, WESTWOOD SET PERSONAL BESTS, SHARE FIRST-ROUND LEAD: Kevin Chappell, making just his sixth major championship start, Ryan Palmer, who has never finished  among the top 15 in this major championship, and Lee Westwood of England, who began his 67th major championship today at Valhalla Golf Club, each fired 6-under-par 65 to share the opening-round lead in the 96th PGA Championship.

Every school year the Indiana State Police receives numerous complaints about school bus stop arm violations from school corporations around the state. The Indiana Department of Education surveys school corporations annually for stop arm violations on one given day, and reports those numbers to the National Association of State Directors for Pupil Transportation Services (NASDPTS).

GROUPS, STARTING TIMES SET FOR FIRST TWO ROUNDS: The PGA of America today announced the Groups and Starting Times for the first two rounds (Thursday and Friday, Aug. 7-8) of the 96th PGA Championship, to be contested on the par-71 Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky.

More than 150 local juniors and 25 military veterans will receive golf instruction from Kentucky and Indiana PGA Section Professionals through a series of fun stations and activities at the PGA Youth and Armed Forces Clinic, Aug. 4 (Monday), at Shawnee Golf Course.
