After the celebratory team photos had been taken and after the nets at Corydon Central High School had been trimmed, North Harrison girls basketball coach Missy Voyles was reflecting on the significance of winning another sectional championship when she spotted a folded wad of three $1 bills laying on the basketball court. She tried – unsuccessfully – to find the money’s rightful owner and wound up – begrudgingly – pocketing the found loot.

The last time Floyd Central New Albany on the hardwood – Dec. 12, 2003 – the first iPhone was still four years away from being released, Arnold Schwarzenegger was governor of California and a clown fish named Marlin was swimming around the ocean trying to find Nemo. All totaled, Floyd Central entered Friday night’s sellout game at New Albany having lost 18 consecutive matchups against its rival.

Floyd Commissioners pass ordinaces regarding $70 million from hospital sell PDF Print E-mail

They Floyd County Commissioners passed an ordinance at their December 6 meeting about 24-hour after they met jointly with the County Council regarding the transfer of $70 million from the sale of Floyd Memorial Hospital to the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana. The ordinance would require a unanimous vote by the commissioners and the Floyd County Council to repeal it in the future.

Borden’s grit led them over a bigger and taller Lanesville team PDF Print E-mail

Friday night basketball is hard to beat but at Borden high school it is even better. Borden was able to pack their defense inside the three point line and pushed back any half court offensive Lanesville tried to develop. In the start of the contest the Eagles appeared that they were going to run away with the game in a hurry but an adjustment on defense by the Braves ultimately sealed the victory for them as they went on to win 55-42.
