The annual Winter Fantasia at Floyd Central had two shows with both sold out. The event Featuring Floyd Centra’s A Cappella Choir, Chamber Singers, Bronze Ringers (handbells), Highlander Bells, Symphony Orchestra, Baroque Strings, No Fret String Quartet, Freshman Band, Wind Symphony, Men’s Choral Ensemble, Women’s Choir Conducted by: Doug Elmore, Angela Hampton, Harold Yankee.

The program ends with all ensembles on stage playing White Christmas, which is an annual tradition carried down from the days of Georgetown High School Christmas concerts. Combined, there are 413 students on stage, or 24.6% of the student body who participate in some form of music performance classes.

Borden boys beat Paoli, Switzerland County PDF Print E-mail

Saturday night the Borden Braves traveled to Paoli to take on the Rams. The first half of the first quarter it appeared competitive then Paoli ran of eight unanswered points. It did not look well given Paoli’s height. Borden did drive back to trail 10 to 16 at the break.

As the Providence High School Class of 1974 prepares for their 40th reunion, their class president will be remembered in a special way.  The premier southern Indiana performance of the play, “Why Did God Make Sparrows?” will be held on Saturday, September 13th, 6:30-7:30PM at the Providence High School Robinson Auditorium as part of the PHS ’74 class reunion activities. The play is based on the journal and stories written by senior class president C.J. Smith Jr. in the final year of his life. CJ was a member of the Starlight community, a 1974 graduate of Providence High School and a student at IU Southeast when he died of a terminal illness just before his 19th birthday.
