In a few short weeks, the fright of last-minute holiday shopping and event planning will set in for many families and businesses in our community. At the same time, worries about how some families will afford their children’s Christmas gifts and concerns regarding how these same families will put a Christmas dinner on the table will become a daily thought.

Troop 4025 benefits from Horseshoe grant PDF Print E-mail

This past year, our troop was fortunate enough to receive a very generous grant from the Horseshoe Southern Indiana.

Troop 4025 out of Georgetown, In. received nearly $4000.00 in grant money to purchase some much needed equipment.

Some of the items the boys were able to purchase include tents, foldable picnic tables, canopies, cooking stoves, backpacks and a water filtration system for camp.

All of the newly acquired equipment will greatly enhance the camping experience for our boys.

Our program for the youth encourages them to become leaders, experience the outdoors, promote citizenship, form friendships, learn responsibility and develop valuable skills to use now and in adulthood. Troop 4025 participates in community service projects such as the special needs dances, scouting for food to assist local food pantries and helping one another with Eagle projects.

The boys plan their own activities and campouts with guidance from trained adults as needed, but primarily, they are responsible for arranging the campouts, shopping and cooking the food etc.

Summer camp is held at Lake Monroe near Bloomington, and the kids choose from many different activities like rifle shooting to canoeing, electronics, chemistry, nature study and many other areas of study.

There truly is something for everyone.

The troop meets Monday nights at 7:00 pm at Tunnel Hill Christian Church in Georgetown, In. If you would like more information, or schedule a visit to one of our meetings, please call Kris Hampton at 502-609-5287.
