Governor Mitch Daniels will be Honorary Grand Marshal in Fourth of July Parade PDF Print E-mail

For the second time this year, Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels will visit Pekin.
The first visit was March 3 when Daniels surveyed the damage from the March 2 tornadoes.
This time around, Daniels will celebrate a 182 year Pekin, tradition where he will be Honorary Grand Marshal in the July 4 parade.

It’s that time again for the annual Strawberry Festival, which will take place this Saturday, May 26, in scenic Starlight, Indiana. The festival kicks off at 8 am with a 5K Run/Walk for the Berries, then continues to provide activities for visitors of all ages throughout the day and well into the night.

Floyd girls’ track team wins sectional title PDF Print E-mail

There were several athletes from area schools who advanced to next week’s track regional. The top four athletes in each event advanced to Tuesday’s track regional at Bloomington North. Results from regional were not available at press time, but will be printed in next week’s edition of The Banner Gazette.
Also included in this story are the results from last Thursday’s boys’ track sectional at Corydon Central.
The following is a list of results from the girls’ May 15 track sectional at Floyd Central.
