?Day after Thanksgiving $5 Breakfast Buffet Fundraiser at Applebee’s on Grant Line PDF Print E-mail

?    The Applebee’s on Grant Line Road in New Albany will be hosting a Breakfast Buffet Fundraiser from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. the day after Thanksgiving on Friday, November 28. The buffet will include bacon, eggs, pancakes, coffee, and juice - all for the low cost of $5 per person. Tickets will not be sold in advance. Customers will just pay at the door that morning.
    Applebee’s will be generously donating half of the proceeds from this event to the Floyd County Animal Rescue League so that they can continue their efforts to help needy and homeless pets of Floyd County.
    Take time out from shopping on this busy day to refuel with a great breakfast at a great price - all in the name of helping our needy animal friends!

?    Our Lady of Providence Junior-Senior High School Alumni Association will host its first annual Breakfast with Santa, Saturday, November 29, in the school’s Activity Center, 707 Providence Way, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A continental breakfast will be served. There will be crafts for the kids, tours of the Junior High and Alexander Photography Studio will be available to take pictures of your child’s visit with Santa. Donations will be accepted to help St. Elizabeth Catholic Charities and cover food costs.

?    Gary Geswein, Chairman Harrison County Farm Bureau, Inc., spoke to approximately 45 members and guests of the Franklin Township Farm Bureau Tuesday, November 11. Agriculture education began in 1917 during the Industrial Revolution after the end of the first World War. Ag education at that time was mainly plant and animal management. “Students learned about agriculture at home by working with their parents on the farm”, said Geswein, retired Future Farmer of America teacher.

?IU Southeast Orchestra to present concert November 23 PDF Print E-mail

?    The Music Department will present the IU Southeast Orchestra on Sunday, November 23 at 3 p.m. in the Richard K. Stem Concert Hall of the Paul W. Ogle Cultural and Community Center on the IU Southeast campus, 4201 Grant Line Road in New Albany. Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for students, seniors, IU Southeast faculty and staff, and are available at the Ogle Center Ticket Office, at all Ticketmaster locations, by calling (502) 361-3100, or online at ticketmaster.com. Free parking is available only in the Dogwood Parking Lot directly in front of the Ogle Center.
    Under the direction of Dr. Joanna Goldstein, the orchestra will perform Academic Festival Overture by Johannes Brahms, Overture to The Wreckers by Ethel Smyth, Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun by Claude Debussy, and Festive Overture by Dmitry Shostakovich.

?    The Floyd Central Student Renaissance will hold a Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, December 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the high school.
    There will be booths of jewelry, wreaths, candles, woodworking, blankets, and more. The FC Band Boosters will have a booth to sell tickets to the December 9 Winter Fantasia Concert.
    The Highland Hills Bell Ringers will entertain as well as dancers and Santa will make an appearance. Soup, sandwiches, and desserts will be available all day. Funds raised go to support academic excellence at Floyd Central such as the Academic Pep Rally.
