|WCCS student art exhibit to be held|

The West Clark Community Schools student art exhibit, sponsored by Art in Speed Park 2009, will be held on Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30 at Speed Memorial Church Recreational Building (adjacent to Art in Speed Park).
The student art exhibit for students attending the West Clark Community Schools of Borden, Henryville and Silver Creek.
The categories are divided by: Elementary (Grades 1 to 6), Middle School (Grades 7 and 8) and High School (Grades 9 to 12, including graduating seniors).
Elementary categories will include drawing (pencil, ink, pastel (chalk) and oil pastel on paper, poster board or foam board) and painting (acrylic or oil on canvas, masonite or canvas board).
Middle and high school categories will include drawing (pencil, ink, pastel (chalk) and oil pastel on paper, poster board or foam board), painting (acrylic or oil on canvas, masonite or canvas board), textile (woven, constructed and basket), ceramic (hand-built, wheel thrown, tile, etc. glazed, unglazed, painted or stained. Pieces may be functional or sculptural and may include mixed-media with clay) and sculpture (all materials except clay, wood, metal, plastic or wire).
All 2-D artworks must be ready for hanging with sturdy appropriate materials (i.e. wire, heavy mono-filament, etc.). Any entry that is not display ready for hanging will be automatically disqualified.
Elementary students can enter a maximum of one artwork in each of the two elementary categories.
Middle and high school students can enter a maximum of two artworks in each of the five categories.
The weekend prior to the exhibit, August 22 and 23, the artworks for possible exhibit need to be brought to the Speed Memorial Church Recreational Building between the hours of 10 a.m. and 12 noon on Saturday, August 22 and 12 noon and 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 23.
Works that are not accepted for the exhibit will need to be picked up on Wednesday, August 26 by the parent or the teacher. All artworks need to be clearly labeled on a card attached to the artworks stating student’s name, school, contact information and category of entry. For example, John Doe, Henryville, Elementary, Home Address, Phone and Ink Drawing.
Artworks accepted for the exhibit need to remain at the exhibit through the entire weekend of Art in Speed Park. Exhibit works may be picked up on Monday, August 31 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Rec Building.
Appropriate ribbons and one Best of Show in each category will be awarded. Decisions of the committee are final.
