|Charlestown to participate in National Night Out|

On Tuesday, August 4, neighborhoods throughout Charlestown are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 26th Annual National Night Out crime and drug?prevention event.
National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co?sponsored locally by the Charlestown Neighborhood Block Watch, will involve over 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world.
From 7 to 10 p.m. on August 4, residents in neighborhoods throughout Charlestown are asked to lock their doors, turn on the outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police. Many neighborhoods throughout Charlestown will be hosting a variety of special events such as a block party, cookouts, visits from police, flashlight walks and youth activities.
In all, over 37 million people are expected to participate in the event throughout the world.
