    At the recent West Washington School Board meeting held on June 22, Tim Reinhart addressed the board concerning the need to replace the hot water heaters in the school and in turn presented a proposal from Mann Plumbing Inc for a solar energy system which will be partially funded with a $25,000 grant from Jackson County REMC. The proposal was accepted, 5-1 with Leslie Batt opposing.
    The board approved the following football coaching positions: Head Varsity Football coach, Phillip Bowsman; Assistant Varsity coaches: Mark Gibson, Keith Nance, Duane Nance, Andrew Burks; Varsity Varsity volunteers: Tom Wischmeier and Brian Farmer; Head Junior High coach: Adam Brown; Junior High Assistants (split) Landon Roberts and Brent Zelivetz and Junior High volunteer: Zac Wilson and accepted resignation from Tom Wischmeier as Assistant Football coach.
    The board unanimously agreed to hire Brenda Hash to replace bus driver, Don Qualkinbush beginning of the 2009-2010 school year.
    J.C. Tucker will remain as the school's attorney for 2009-2010.
    Bids were submitted to the school corporation for fuel, milk and bread. They received five bids for fuel with the board accepting the bid from Riley Oil and the 55 gallon drum oil bid from Mullis with Jacobi Oil Services as the second bid if needed. The board also accepted the bread bid from Earthgrains, Inc, if delivery is available, if not they will accept the bid from Klosterman Baking Company and Prairie Farms bid for milk was accepted.
    A recommendation from Principal Tom Rosenbaum, fourth grade teacher, Doug Wright will now take the role of Title 1 teacher effective 2009-2010.
    The following Prime Time Aides will be terminated June 30 with the intent to re-hire in the fall pending enrollment: Dana Farris, Sharon Hammond, Tammy Jones, Amber Morrow, Judy Nice, Terri Smith and Shirley Voyles.
    Member Brian Farmer moved to keep the lunch prices for the 2009-2010 school year the same as last year. They are as follows: all students breakfast, $1.25; all reduced breakfast, .30; all reduced lunches, .40; adult breakfast, $2; individual servings, .75, fries, $1; Elementary student lunch, $1.75; Jr./Sr. Student lunch, $2; extra milk, .40; adult lunches, $3; sandwich, $2 and soup $2. The motion passes unanimously.
    The recommendation to table the non-certified/salary increases were tables until the 2010 budget was approved.
    Superintendent Jackson reported that West Washington will not receive any CAPE money this year.
    The next regular scheduled school board meeting will be July 20.
