It’s almost here, one of the biggest annual events in Southern Indiana, the Charlestown Founder’s Day Festival Parade and Float Contest; themed “Family, Friends, & Fun”.   Festival Parade and Float Contest promises to be a great event!
The parade will travel, beginning at 10:30 a.m., along Market Street from Park to Main Streets on Saturday morning, June 27. The parade will feature the Charlestown Founders Day Prince and Princess as well as many other distinguished guests.
National celebrity Patrick Henry Hughes and his family will be the honored guests as the Grand Marshall. You may recognize Patrick Henry Hughes as he has been featured on ESPN, ABC-TV, Oprah, CBS-TV, The Ellen Show, Extreme Make Over Home Edition, FOX-TV, CSTV, NBC-TV, The Grand Ole Opry, People Magazine, Sports Illustrated, Star Magazine, and many, many others. His first book, I am Potential, is published and available around the country/world.     Many local businesses and organizations have registered their entry into the Float Contest, and will compete for a share in the monetary awards, trophies and accolades. A complete list of Parade Float Contest rules is available at
In addition to the float contest again this year, non-float contest entries will compete for trophies in categories such as “Best Overall Spirited Entry”, “Best Use of Sound Effects or Music”, “Best Commercial Entry”, “Best Group or Organization Entry”, “Best Marching Entry”, and “Best Motorized Entry”.
Additionally, bands, clowns, Shriners, custom cars, horses, and many, many other local favorites have also already entered.
The Festival Parade Committee cordially invites and encourages all local businesses, associations, clubs, organizations, as well as private citizens, families, and groups to participate in the parade and float contest. Show your community pride like generations have before during this great community event!
