|East Washington School Board accepts resignation of High School Band Director|

Members of the public expressed their feelings in regards to the resignation of Miller, citing positive support for the former Band Director.
The board accepted a resolution recognizing High School Athletic Director Scott Newcomb for being selected as District 5 Athletic Director of the Year.
The school board was presented a Contingency/Preparedness Plan from Patrick Rose and Jennifer Love-Tillotson of the Indiana Department of Health.
The board also approved the following personnel recommendations: Ryan Osborn as High School/Tech teacher; Clinton Blankenbaker as third grade elementary teacher; Rosa Snapp as Preschool/Title 1 Interventionist teacher; Travis Daily as summer school English teacher; Jacob Johanningsmeier; Jim Lewis as summer school PE teacher, Robert Bennett, Mike McBride , Eric Robertson, Tom Cullen and Buff Gardner as Driver's Education instructors; medical leave of absence of Sharon McElroy's from May 7 through end of school year; verbal resignation of Kenny Speigelhalder' as bus driver and recommend Cheryl Hogan to fill Speigelhalder position; Kelley Lee and Deanna Shofner as cheerleading and pep club co-coaches and Lisa Roberts as JV volleyball coach.
The board approved the amended the 2009-2010 school calendar to reflect the deletion of the professional development days and parent teacher conference days.
Superintendent Amick recommended riffing classified staff employed in Prime Time, Attendance, Title I, Remediation, In-school/Study Hall and Library Aides. The board agreed 5-0.
Kate McCoskey will be taking a Professional Leave of Absence from July 28-Augus2 to attend Harmony University Music Educator Conference in Missouri.
The board agreed to accept the 2009 Athletic Summer Programs for a total of $11,524.25.
The board granted permission to advertise for bids for Administration Building addition.
Lindsey Wade-Swift with the Washington County Community Foundation presented John Roberts as the new candidate to serve on the Foundation's Board. Roberts will serve the board until June 20,2012.
They also approved third grade teacher Leah Starrett's field trip request on May 27 to tour the Statehouse and Monument Circle.
A tentative budget calender was presented to the board and the recommendation to grant permission to advertise an additional appropriation hearing for debt service to be held on June 9.
Superintendent Amick with Greg Hopkins, Transportation Director discussed with member Cecil Shrout the need to upgrade cameras on some of the districts older school buses. No decision was made at this time.
The next regular scheduled school board meeting will take place on Tuesday, June 9 at 7 p.m.
