The Charlestown High School Pirate baseball team's season opener versus Charlevoix High School, of Michigan on Monday, March 30, began the slugger's season off on the right note with a solid 8-2 victory.
The game, played at Jeffersonville's Memorial Park due to Charlestown Little League construction, featured good play from the team's younger players.
Charlevoix High School, a 3A size school from Michigan, stopped to play the Pirates on their way to Tennessee for their annual Spring Break trip.
The game marked the first time the Pirates have played an out of state team since the 2005 season (when traveled to Ballard High School (KY) for the Ballard Invitational).
