Two airlifted following accident PDF Print E-mail

On Saturday, September 9, 2017 at around 1 p.m. Washington County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Brent Miller responded to a personal injury motor vehicle crash on State Road 135 South at Dutch Creek Road.

Miller was advised David Gray, 67, Palmyra, was traveling northbound on a 2009 Yamaha motorcycle. Jane Gray, 55, also of Palmyra was a passanger.     Gray was being followed by April Thompson, 40, Louisville in a 2007 Toyota passanger vehicle.

According to a press release issued by the the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, Gray told officers had slowed to make a right turn onto Dutch Creek Road, when Thompson struck him from behind.

The impact of the crash caused both riders on the motorcycle to be ejected. They were flown from the scene by helicopter ambulance to the University of Louisville for treatment of multiple injuries.

Both were wearing helmets.

Thompson was not injured in the crash.

Both vehicles received major damage in the crash, which is still under investigation.

Other assisting agencies included Washington County EMS, Pierce/Polk Volunteer Fire Department, Kentucky 7 and Air EVAC 17.
