Scottsburg was riding a wave of momentum as they had defeated Madison 76-60 in a convincing fashion the previous night.
They hoped that wave would carry them past a Greensburg team that knocked off heavily favored Batesville on Friday night, March 6, as well.  The Pirates won their game by outhustling and outsmarting the Bulldogs in every way.  The Warriors on the other hand, won their game by shooting the lights out, and scoring at will.  Scottsburg planned to use that same game-plan in the sectional final against Greensburg.
As expected, the Pirates came out in a hustling fashion, dominating the Warriors in every category.  Scottsburg went away from the deadly three point shooting that carried them past the Cubs, and didn’t lock down the interior defense either, and allowed Greensburg to pull away.
The Pirates would lead by as much as 20 at one point, and would hold a sizeable lead until the fourth quarter, when the Warriors would get no closer than eight points, losing 64-53.
The title game was Scottsburg first appearance in a sectional final since 2005, and will likely be a favorite in conference next season as they lose only Tyler Patton to graduation.
