Charlestown Lady Pirate junior Amanda Miller was voted the Fever Female High School Player of the Week for the week of February 2-9.
The 5 foot-6 inch junior point guard has broken a school record with 21 consecutive free throws this season and is on pace to break the season record for free throw percentage. She is leading the Lady Pirates in scoring at 16 points per game, steals with 72 and rebounds.
Recently, Miller had 15 steals versus Rock Creek to break a 16-year old record held by former All-Star Kristin Mattox.
Miller was nominated by Lady Pirates head coach Tony Hall.
Also honored for that week due to a tie was Lauren Goffinet of Tell City.
The Pacers Sports and Entertainment is supporting the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association through its sponsorship of the Pacers Male High School Players of the Week and the Fever Female High School Players of the Week. This recognition program began on January 12. Nominations are submitted by head high school coaches and by members of the media. Normally a girls and boys winner is chosen from each of the three IHSAA districts in the state- North, Central and South. The winners’ names appear each week on the IBCA website, ibcacoaches.com.
