Scottsburg had been on a recent skid, starting the season out 5-1, and since then going 3-5. Despite their recent struggles as a team, and search to find an identity, they looked to pick up a non-conference win at Southwestern on February 6, to boost the morale.
Scottsburg was the clear favorite to win the game, but the Rebels used their home floor advantage to the best of their ability, managing to keep the game close throughout. The Warriors would never pull out to a hefty lead, as never did deliver the knockout punch.
The team managed to hang on though as they would win the game 54-48, barely getting over the 50 point mark that has been a tough task several times.
The Warriors were led in scoring by Matt Bridgewater, who had 15, and freshman Max Clemons with 12, who has stepped up his game since the Warrior loss to New Albany, where he had 15. Mason Gregory also had 12.
Mabry would lead Southwestern with 13, and Ames would follow with 12.
