? The Scott County Soccer Club is accepting registrations until February 15 for the spring season.
The club is actively seeking players who are interested in playing in an organized, competitive league. The Scott County Soccer Club is for boys and girls ages six through 18 who would like to increase their playing ability on a competitive traveling team. The club is open to any student from any school and is non-school affiliated.
Registration forms are available on the club website at www.sc2soccer.org. Checks and registration forms can be mailed to the club registrar. Cost for registration is $50.
New players must turn in an official copy of their birth certificates to register with the state association.
Co-ed teams are divided into five age groups: U8, U10, U12, U15 and U19. If enough girls register, a separate girls’ team will be formed at the U15 level.
Due to IHSAA guidelines, only six teammates from a high school team may be on a U19 team, so the club is looking for players from area schools to round out the team. Teams are open to all kids regardless of school affiliation. Birth dates will be used to determine team placement. Players must have turned six by July 31, 2008, and cannot have turned 19 before July 31, 2008, to be eligible to play.
The Scott County Soccer Club is a member of the Indiana Youth Soccer Association and is in its ninth season of play. Coaches are trained by the state organization and have several years of experience coaching youth soccer. Organized practices focus on age appropriate soccer skill training with emphasis on improving the players’ understanding of the game.
Practices will begin in March. Games will be played on weekends April through May. Traveling is involved in this club. Players are expected to attend two practices during the week and one or two games are played on the weekend. Each team plays eight to ten games during the season.
