First Scottsburg Football Game in 31 Years Aug. 22 PDF Print E-mail
Scott County School District is excited to be hosting the first Scottsburg High School football game in 31 years on Friday, August 22, against Switzerland County High School. “This is a great opportunity for our students, our school, and our community. We are looking forward to a great night and wanted to provide some guidelines to make the night as smooth as possible,” stated SCSD2 Superintendent Marc Slaton.!
The game will be held at Scottsburg Middle School (not at Scottsburg High School) which is located at 375 South Third Street in Scottsburg. Tailgating festivities will begin at 4:30 p.m., ticket gates will open at 6 p.m., and the game will kickoff at 7 p.m.!
Fan Parking will be in the west lot at SMS (Scottsburg Middle School) and along the west parking lot entry road. Overflow parking will be coordinated into four overflow areas and shuttle transportation to the SMS Football Field will be provided. Overflow Parking Lot A will be the grass field just south of the softball field (weather permitting), Overflow Parking Lot B will be in the gravel parking lot just southwest of Meyer Gym, Overflow Parking Lot C will be in the paved parking lot just south of Meyer Gym, and Overflow Parking Lot D will be in the gravel parking lot just north of Meyer Gym. Fans in parking lot A and B should ride the AB shuttle bus and fans in parking lot C and D should ride the CD shuttle bus. The buses will return fans to their vehicles up to one hour after the game ends.!
The fan tailgating area will be in the west parking lot. Fans will be allowed to bring in their own charcoal grills and coolers for tailgating. For those fans who want to tailgate without all the trouble of bringing their own tailgating items, SCSD2 will be grilling food that will be for sale at a minimal price. All proceeds from the SCSD2 tailgating grills will go to the Scottsburg High School football program.!
Fans are encouraged to bring corn hole boards as well or other tailgating games. SCSD2 will provide a DJ along with other activities. School officials want to remind the public that this event is on school property so alcohol and tobacco products are prohibited.!
Ticket Gates will open at 6 p.m. and there will be two gates for fan entrance. Along with game tickets, season passes to other district sporting events will be available for purchase.!
Bleacher seating is limited so fans are encouraged to bring lawn or folding chairs. Additional concession areas will be set up inside the field gates to help with the expected large crowd. !
Fans are encouraged to come early, enjoy some good food, have some fun at the tailgating, and then get ready to watch the Warriors take the field for the first time in 31 years!
