One man is dead, another injured after an early Friday (August 15, 2014) crash on State Road 60.

According to a press release issued by the Washington County Sheriff's Department, at approximately 1:36 a.m. on the morning of Aug. 15, the Sheriff's Department received a call regarding a single motor vehicle crash on State Road 60 west of Powers Road.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a Ford F-150 on fire in a field south of State Road 60.

Officers located Andrew Stingel, 27, Salem, who had been ejected from the vehicle.

The release said Stingel was conscious and able to speak with officers. He was flown by air ambulance to U of L Hospital.

A second male occupant, whose identification is being withheld pending further investigation, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The press release states that upon officer's investigation of the crash scene, the vehicle was traveling west on State Road 60 when it drove off the north edge of the roadway. The driver (unknown at this time) over corrected, causing the vehicle to slide sideways across State Road 60 and struck a concrete culvert.

The vehicle then overturned several times, ejecting Stingel and stopping on its side.

The crash is still under investigation.

Lt. Ryan Larrimore with the Washington County Sheriff's Department is the investigating officer.

He was assisted at the scene by Indiana State Police Trooper Travis Baker and the Washington County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Roger Newlon and Deputy Allen Taylor.
