There will be a benefit for Ariel Atchley on Aug. 16 at Lyles Park. The event is being sponsored by Meadowview Health and Rehab.
There will be a pulled pork meal at 5 p.m.
There will also be raffle drawings, a 50/50 drawing and a cornhole tournament.
The event will also include a bake sale and the Short Notice Band will be playing at 8 p.m.
At 31, Atchley had a heart attack and in routine follow-up learned he had to have a seven by-pass surgery. He had the surgery on March 10, and since then has had a lot of recovery issues; the foremost being numbness in his leg that make it difficult for him to stand and walk for any substantial amount of time. At this juncture he is in limbo of sorts: he cannot get cleared to begin cardiac rehab because of the leg numbness.
The problem compounds with no way to obtain insurance or pay for needed testing and procedures/treatment.
With him unable to return to work and lacking funds to see the neurologist & other specialist that could help, he is running out of options.
The money raised will be for funding medical expenses to find out why he has the numbness that is preventing him from getting rehab, and the treatment needed to get him back on his feet. For more information, or to make a donation for the auction, contact Amy Purlee at 620-1755.
