Traffic problems for motorists on Interstate 65 between Scottsburg and Seymour are going to increase starting Sunday, July 13, through Friday, July 25. A news release issued early this week by the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announced that accelerated construction efforts are planned during that two-week period. The non-stop work schedule begins at 6 p.m. on July 13 and concludes at 1 p.m. on July 25.

Officials stated that “significant” traffic delays can be anticipated by travelers during Friday and Sunday drive times on the afternoons and evenings of July 18 and 20. This second accelerated effort by crews should shorten the project’s timeline by as much as six to eight weeks, according to officials’ estimates.

Meanwhile, efforts continue to repair and repave the 21 miles of lanes and rehabilitate the stretch’s 20 bridges continue this week on I-65.

Lane closures this week include:

•I-65 northbound left lane at mile marker 29.0.

•Northbound left lane at mile marker 39.0.

•Southbound right lane at mile marker 47.0.

•Southbound right lane at mile marker 36.0.

•Ramp closures at State Road 256 in Austin and State Road 56 in Scottsburg as needed for milling and paving.

•I-65 southbound left lane at mile marker 48.0.

•Southbound right lane at mile marker 38.0.

•Northbound left lane at mile marker 29.0, which is scheduled to reopen on Friday, July 18.

•Northbound left lane at mile marker 44.0.

•Nightly ramp closings for patching.

Lane closures for the week of July 20 are:

•Northbound right lane at mile marker 29.0.

•Northbound right lane at mile marker 39.0.

•Northbound ramp at S.R. 56 in Scottsburg.

•Northbound ramp at S.R. 256 in Austin.
