Gun shot death in Washington County ruled an accident PDF Print E-mail

On the morning of Tuesday, June 10, at 10:52 am, the Pekin Town Marshall and the Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 911 call at 1124 North Anna Street in Pekin. 

The call was in reference to a male with a gunshot wound. Officers at the scene summonsed Indiana State Police Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators to the residence to assume the investigation.

The deceased was identified as Darryl Thornton, 50, from the above mentioned address.

Washington County Coroner Rondale Brishaber has ruled the cause of death as an accident.

According to Indiana State Police Spokesman Jerry Goodin, Thorton appeared to have been cleaning his gun.
