JACQUELINE HALLIDAY, 66, Greenville, died Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville.
She was born in Kentucky on August 29, 1947 the daughter of John and Genevieve Lewis Hamilton. She was an inspector for Nu-Yale Cleaners in Jeffersonville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Elliott Scott Halliday and a a sister- Norma Sanders.
She is survived by one son, Bobby Halliday (Kim); two brothers, Mike Ford (Pam) and David Hamilton (Karen) and two sisters, Nancy Bogard and Pam Miller.
There will be a visitation at the Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 from 12-8 PM.


NORMA GAIL EYSSEN, 55, died Friday, June 13, 2014 at University of Louisville Hospital.
She was born July 21, 1958 in Hinton, West Virginia. She was a homemaker, an avid quilter and a U.S. Coast Guard wife for 30 years.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph Eyssen of Corydon; two sons, Ralph Eyssen (Sarah) of Elizabeth and Ryan Eyssen of Corydon; two brothers, James Edward Scott (Rhonda) of Grove City, Ohio and Darren Wade Scott of Columbus, Ohio and one grandson, Remington Dell Scott Eyssen of Elizabeth.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon. Rev. Richard Goodwin will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home in Corydon on Tuesday from 4 PM to 8 PM and on Wednesday from 12 PM to 1 PM.


GLENN RAY HOSTETLER, 41, of Marysville, died Monday, June 16, 2014 at Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born on September 16, 1972 to Albert and Linda (Callis) Hostetler in Jeffersonville. He was an automotive technician for Bales Auto Mall in Jeffersonville, and a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his father, Albert Hostetler.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy (Schindler) Hostetler of Marysville; son, Liam Hostetler of Marysville; mother, Linda Hostetler of Marysville; brother, Roger Hostetler (Jenny) of Marysville; father-in-law and Mother-in-law; Lawrence and Ann Schindler of Charlestown; brother-in-law, Ben Schindler of Otisco; one niece and two nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 11am at the Grayson Funeral Home in New Washington, with burial to follow in the Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Thursday, from 3pm to 8pm, and after 9am on Friday.

RUBY C. MELTON, 92 of New Albany, died Monday, June 16, 2014 in Lincoln Hills Nursing Home.
Born June 26, 1921 in Burkesville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Cortis and Bertha (Capps) Lee. She was a homemaker and a former cook at the old Sandy's Restaurant in Louisville and had been a resident of Washington County since 1980, formerly of Louisville.
She married in 1956 to Malcom J. Melton, who passed away June 12, 2002.
Survivors include two sons, Douglas (Connie) Melton, New Albany and Lewis E. (Victoria) Melton, El Centro, California; one daughter, Tina (Clint) Johnson, Salem; one brother, Paul Lee, Louisville; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one grandson and four sisters.
Funeral Service will be at 3:00 pm Monday at Dawalt Funeral Home with Rev. Rodney Wineinger officiating. Visitation will be from 12 to 3 pm Monday. Interment at Crown Hill Cemetery.


JAMES EDWARD WOOLDRIDGE, 68, of Charlestown, died on Tuesday June 17, 2014 at St. Catherine Regional Hospital in Charlestown.
He was born on July 11, 1945 to George W. and Eva C. Burden Wooldridge in Louisville and was a former construction worker.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Ann Early of Charlestown.
No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation was chosen.

IRVIN W. "SALTY" BRYANT, 84, Salem, died Tuesday, June 17, 2014, in his residence.
Born August 19, 1929 in Salem, Indiana, he was the son of the late Clifford and Emma (Winslow) Bryant. He was a retired employee of Kimball Office Furniture Borden Division, served in the Armed Forces as a Platoon Sergeant in the Indiana National Guard, had been a Life resident of Washington County and was a member of the Salem Fraternal Order of Eagles #3516. He married January 9, 1957 to H. June (Voyles) Bryant, who passed away February 1, 2002.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Sohl, Salem and Carla (Bryon) Wingfield, Niceville, Florida; one stepdaughter, Debra Engle, Salem; one stepson, Randy (Faye) Voyles, Vallonia; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Gracellen Bryant and Elizabeth Land and one brother Charles Bryant.
Funeral service, 1:00 pm Saturday at Dawalt Funeral Home. Visitation is 4 to 8 pm Friday and after 9 am Saturday. Interment at Crown Hill Cemetery with full military honors.

WILLIAM C. “BILL” ENLOW, 73, died June 17, 2014 at Floyd Memorial Hospital.
A native of Milltown, he was the son of the late Cecil B. and Eva Jones Enlow. He was predeceased by his siblings, Phillip Enlow and Marlene Smith.  He served in the U. S. Army, retired from General Electric and was a special friend to Christ United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Diana Dean, daughter Angela Fitzgibbon (Paul) of New Albany; grandson Patrick Fitzgibbon, and nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were Friday, June 20, 2014 at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown.
In lieu of flowers the family requests gifts be made to the Milltown Alumni Assoc (Scholarship Fund), Hosparus of Southern Indiana, New Albany Animal Shelter or the donor’s choice.
The family thanks the staff and doctors at FMH ICU and Kindred Hospital in Louisville for the special care given during his illness.


DARRELL LYNN JOHNSON, 48 of Charlestown, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at his home.
He was born on February 7, 1966 to Larry and Jessie (Watt) Johnson in Louisville. He is a trainer/manager at Connextions in Jeffersonville. He was former member of the National Guard, a member of the Boy Scouts of America, and Scout Master for Troop 80.
He is preceded in death by his father, Larry Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Melanie (Hogan) Johnson; daughter, Shelby Johnson of Charlestown; son, Cody Johnson of Charlestown; mother, Jessie Johnson of Charlestown; brother, Donnie Johnson of Henryville.
Funeral services were Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, with burial in the Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.

KEVIN WESLEY BURNS, 42, of Scottsburg, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014 in Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg.
He was born October 8, 1971 in Louisville. He was currently employed at Morgan Foods in Austin and had worked there for the past 16 years.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer (Spellman) Burns of Scottsburg; sons, Noah Burns and Kyle Burns, Scottsburg; his mother, Doris Johnson, Charlestown; his father, Arlie Burns, Scottsburg; and brothers, Terry Burns, Scottsburg and Chris Burns, Lexington, Indiana.
Funeral Service will be at 12:00 Noon Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Buchanan Funeral Home in Austin, Indiana  with Rev. Steve Gwaltney officiating. Visitation will be 10 am to Noon Saturday at Buchanan Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery   Austin, Indiana.

LOUIS RAYMOND DAUGHERTY JR., 89, of Salem, died Wednesday June 18, 2014 at the Green Valley Care Center in New Albany.
He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Salem. He was born December 25, 1924 in Lebanon, KY.
Survivors include three sons, Terry "Joe" Daugherty (Pat), Blaine Daugherty (Mary) , and Tracy Daugherty (Sharon); eight daughters, Phyllis Blandford (Joe), Donna Brabandt (Tom), Paulette Tucker (Phil), Pam Murrer (Dave), Patty Cambron (Danny), Janet Eisenback (George), Fran Downs (Jack), and Christa Hall (Eric); one sister, Cecilia Spalding; two brothers, Harold and Joe Paul Daugherty; 25 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Matilda Spalding Daugherty; parents, Louis and Irene Hamilton Daugherty; two brothers, Clifton and Charles "Pete" Daugherty; three sisters, Florence Bott, Gladys Thomas and Collette Schickel.
The funeral mass will be at 11:00 AM Monday at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Viewing will be Sunday from 2-8 PM at the Hughes-Taylor Funeral in Salem, and Monday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church. Burial will be at the St. Patrick's Cemetery.

HAZEL K. BAXTER, 81, Charlestown, died Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Maple Manor Christian Home in Sellersburg.
She was born on February 18, 1933 in Campbellsburg, KY. the daughter of Hubert and Josie Pyles Adams. She was active in the former Assembly of God Church in Charlestown, as a teacher.
Survivors include her daughter, Joyce DeVary (Jerry L.) of Charlestown; sisters, Geneva DeVary of Charlestown, Lois Marshall and Betty Grays both of Madison, and Thelma Jackson of Campbellsburg, KY; grandchildren, Lisa Wilt and Jessica Ledbetter; great-grandchild, Ainsley Wilt. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jessie Baxter Jr., sons Larry Wayne and James P. Baxter and four sisters, Dottie, Georgie, Jenny and Della.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. and after 9:00 A.M. Wednesday.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in memory of Hazel to the American Diabetes Association.


IRIS SUE FLEMING, 65, Pekin, died Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany.
She was born August 15, 1948 in Jackhorn, Kentucky the daughter of Hassel and Hattie Slone Johnson. She was a retired physical therapy assistant for Floyd Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Pekin Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband, Leroy Fleming. They were married August 3, 1963.
She is also survived by two sons, Aaron Fleming (Stacey) of Pekin and Ashley Ryan (Ashley Kim) Fleming of Sellersburg; three daughters, Lori Soydemir (Kemal) and Tylene Jarrells both of Pekin and Carol Wainscott (Kenneth) of Salem; a brother, Johnny Johnson of Jackhorn, Kentucky, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Michael Johnson.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00AM at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Pekin. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8PM and Tuesday from 9AM-time of service.


ELIZABETH “CHARLOTTE” MATTINGLY CARTER, 85, died June 19, 2014.
She was born June 18, 2929. She worked for several years as a private legal Secretary for several lawyers in Jeffersonville and Louisville. She ended her career as the legal Secretary for the late E. P. “Tom” Sawyer.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Mr. Aubrey D. Carter and her daughter, Elizabeth Faye Carter both of Charlestown; cousins, Cathrine Johnson and Myrtle Mattingly.
She is preceded in death by her brother Joseph Mattingly; sister Evelyn Gray; and her son Phillip B. Carter.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Friday July 27, 2014 at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 pm to 8 pm on Thursday and after 9 am on Friday until the time of service.

ALLEN RAY CHRISTIE, SR., 74, Floyds Knobs, died Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Floyd Memorial Hospital.
He was born October 28, 1939 in Hope, IN the son of John Herbert and Nettie Douglas Christie. He retired after a career of 34 years with the Pillsbury Co. in New Albany. He was a United States Army Veteran serving with the 101st Airborne, a member of the Living Waters Church in Charlestown.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Bruner Christie; daughters, Malinda Askren(Brad) of Jeffersonville, Dixie Kern and Pixie Burkhead(Homer) both of Floyds Knobs, Lorrie Hughes(Wyatt) of Paris, IL; son Allen Ray Christie, JR(Carrie) of Mt. Eden, KY; sisters, Evelyn Spoonamore(Thomas) of Westport, IN and Anita Redicker(Steve) of North Vernon, IN; brothers, Fred Christie(Joyce) of Buchanan, VA and John Christie, JR of Daytona, FL; 13 grandchildren, Tammy, Chris, Yvonne, Tomi Lee, Johnny, Brittany, Devon, Weston, Whitney, Trey, Jordan, Kellie and Raegan; 16 great-grandchildren, Cain, Callie, Chase, Destiny, Trenton, Lauren, Makayla, Gabe, Tyler, Makenna, Nyla, Chazz, Chloee, Ashtin, Collin and Maddox.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Daniel Sizemore; twin sister, Allene; brothers, Robert, Ed and Gene.
Funeral services were Monday, June 23, 2014 at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery.

MORRIS LEE ROYALTY, 76, a life long resident of Crothersville, died Friday, June 20, 2014 at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
Born on Columbus Day, October 12, 1937 in Washington County, Indiana, he was the son of Robert Roy Royalty and Mildred (Wilson) Royalty who are both deceased. He was retired from Regal Insulation and worked previously at Arvins, Cummins, and Royalty Companies. He served in the United Sates Navy was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles in Seymour, and American Legion Post #89 in Seymour.
Survivors include his best friend and companion, Beverly “Bev” Findley, one brother, John Thomas (Carol) Royalty, of Michigan.
He was preceded in death by 12 siblings, Ralph Royalty, William “Bill” Royalty, Margaret Hagen, James “Jim” Royalty, Chris T. Royalty, Alamae Muncy, Laymon Royalty, Joe “J.C.” Royalty, Lee “Sam” Donald Royalty, Emmerine Mitchell and infant twins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 23, 2014 at Adams Funeral Home and Crematory in Crothersville, with burial to follow at Marion Cemetery.
Visitation is Sunday June 22, 2014 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and after 9:00 AM on Monday both at the funeral home.

PHYLLIS R. TIMBERLAKE SMITH, 93, died Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the home of her son.
She was born in Corydon on April 27, 1921 the daughter of Lee and Siddie Melton Timberlake. She was a homemaker and a member of Old Capitol United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Francis Smith and two sons John Hill and Charles Patrick Smith.
She is survived by one son, Jim Smith (Sondra) of Corydon; one sister, Eleanor Albin of Corydon; three grandsons, Michael, Rob and Nick Smith; nine great-grandchildren, Gavin, Drew, Trinity, Kennedy, Megan, Mackenzie, Connor, Sierra and Kendyl.
Services and burial are private.
Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon are handling all arrangements.


HAROLD LAMAR BIEROD, 89, of Georgetown, died on June 22, 2014.
Born in Meade County, KY, he grew up in the Ohio River valley. He was employed by the Colgate Palmolive Company for 35 years, ran a trucking company, drove a school bus.
He was the son of Daisy Compton and Louis Bierod. He was born on Nov. 20, 1924. His marriage to his childhood sweetheart Norma Love celebrated 72 years. He was the father of four children: Ron (Betty), Janis (Sam Allen), Barbara (Mike Moore), and Bryan (Tina). He had eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and many relatives and in-laws, including Bobby Love and Donnie (Rose) Love who survive him, as well as brother Norman (Zella). His beloved neighbors and caregivers Wylie and Gayle Whitenack and Tamara Martin were faithful and caring friends.
Visitation will be at from 1PM-8PM at the Gehlbach and Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown, IN on Wednesday June 25, 2014. The funeral service will be the following day starting at 11 am after an hour of visitation at 10 am.


JOE D. SCARRY, 40, died Friday June 20, 2014 at his home.
He was a resident of Pekin, IN and a former employee of Louisville Medical Steam Plant.
He was preceded in death by his dads, Patrick D. Scarry and Robert F. Metts and a sister, Paula Metts.
Survivors include his daughters, London Jo Scarry and Addison Willow Scarry; mother, Martha Metts; sisters, Dee Scarry (Ken) and Vickie Metts; his grandma "Gram" Esther Fink; stepmother, Mary Ann Scarry. Also surviving are several nieces, a nephew and cousins, aunts and uncles.
Funeral service will be held at noon on Tuesday at Pearson's, 149 Breckenridge Lane with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. on Monday and after 10 a.m. on Tuesday until time of service.
His request was to have memorials go to the Home of the Innocents.


JOHN LAURENCE "RUSTY" KURTZ, died on June 19, 2014 at the age of 26 in Scottsburg.
He was born October 20, 1987 in Provo, Utah, of John Albert Kurtz and Kathleen Beebe Kurtz. He attended Orem High School and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 2006. He attended Salt Lake Community College with a focus in Marketing and was a member of Provo Community Church. In April of 2014, Laurence opened a fishing tackle shop in Crothersville, Indiana a place where he had spent summers growing up. He was the brother of Aleesa Kurtz Radoncic of Kew Gardens, New York. He was the owner of Rusty's Tackle Shop in Crothersville.
He is survived by his parents Kathleen Beebe Kurtz and John Albert Kurtz of South Jordan, Utah; his sister Aleesa Kurtz Radoncic (Emir); his niece Selma Radoncic, his uncle Laurence (Larry) Beebe (Brenda), his aunt Mariann Kurtz Weber (Chuck), his uncle Theodore Kurtz (Sheri), and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents John H. and Anita Kurtz and his maternal grandparents Donald and Chalotte Beebe. Rest in peace our dear Laurence, we hope you are fishing in the wild blue yonder.
A Memorial Service will be held at Provo Community Church on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 11am.
