The reported father of a three-month-old baby, whose photo had been forwarded to him by smartphone, purportedly showed up at an underage drinking party on May 10, threatening to cut off another man’s head.

Sgt. Steven Herald of the Scottsburg City Police Department, arrived at the scene after  a call had been made to authorities reporting the party.

When he arrived, he found several people involved in an argument. One of those subject, Clyde Noble, 20, told Sgt. Herald that he had been sent a photo of his baby being held by a young man at the party. He told the officer that he had had trouble with the young man for several years. When he saw several people come out of the house, Noble said he went back to his car for his fishing knife. He said he later returned the knife to the car, and that is where Sgt.Herald reported finding the three-foot-long machete or sword.

The threatened individual told the officer that Noble had said he was going to cut off his head with the weapon. Noble was arrested after charges were filed on May 15 in Scott Circuit Court. He is now charged with two counts of Class C felony intimidation.

At his May 16 initial hearing in court, Noble was appointed the services of a public defender and assigned a jury trial date of October 14. His bail was set at $50,000 corporate surety bond or $10,000 cash. He was also served with a protective order instructing him to stay away from the alleged victim if he was released on bond.

The possibility of his release, however, was delayed, when Judge Duvall approved a petition filed by the County Prosecutor’s Office to place Noble on a 15-day hold without bond.
