|Dalton, McClellan are EHS Valedictorians this year|
Eastern High School has two valedictorian’s this year for graduation, Abbey McClellan and Nancy Dalton.
McClellan is the daughter of Tara Kennedy and Tony McClellan. She plans to attend Purdue University and major in Agribusiness.
“I would like to one day own my own greenhouse business,” McClellan said.
She has worked as a Floral Clerk and Cashier at JayC food Store in Salem since March of 2013.
Activities include, Spanish Club, Prayer Group, 4-H, Washington County Youth Foundation, Science Club, SADD, Leadership Club, Pep Club, Student Council, Musketeer Mentors, National Honor Society, Renaissance Club, FFA, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Dance Team, volunteer to clean up Pekin Park with 4-H club, volunteer benefit concert for Happily Ever After Project, Reader for Happily Ever After Project, volunteer with the Christmas Assistance Program and volunteer for the NHS leaf raking. She has also been a volunteer at the Women’s Circle Tea and the NHS Easter Egg Hun.
In addition to being valedictorian, Dalton also received the Lilly Scholarship.
She is the daughter of Larry and Shari Dalton and will attend Anderson University.
Dalton plans to major in Biology (pre-med).
“I hope to complete my undergraduate degreee and then progress to graduate school to either become a doctor or physician’s assistant,” Dalton said.
Dalton is an employee at Indian Creek Baptist Camp, summer camps.
Her activities include, Spanish Club, Sign Language Club, EHS Rennissance Club, Pep Club, SAAD Club, Student Council (student body president 2013 to present), National Honor Society (president 2013-present), Musketeer Mentor, track, basketball, cross country.
Her community involvement includes the Washington County Youth Foundation (President 2013-present), Salem First Baptist Church Youth Group, Choices for Women Center, New Albany, Big Brothers, Big Sisters mentor, Indian Creek Baptist Camp Cabin Leader Volunteer.
Dalton’s awards and honors include, National Merit Scholarship Corporation Commended Student, Indiana Academic All State First Team Trach (2013), EHS Student Mentor of the Year (2013), Mental Attitude Award Track (2013), All A Honor Roll (All completed high school semesters), Perfect Attendance Award-2010-11 school year, National Honor Society Outstanding Service Award – 2013, Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award Winner 2012, 2013, Recipien of University of Louisville’s Yarmuth Book Award (2013) and Indiana Academic All-Star (2014).
The Eastern High School graduation will be June 1 at 2 p.m.
