Two people were hurt when a collision occurred early on Friday morning, May 2, at the intersection of State Roads 356 and 3 southeast of Scottsburg.

A 1991 Ford Fiesta being driven east on S.R. 356 by Scot W. Ames, 40, Pekin, just after 6 a.m. pulled out in front of a 2011 Chevrolet CZL driven by Fredrick Morrow, 49, North Vernon. The Chevy was being driven south by Morrow on S.R. 3. North-south traffic does not stop at the intersection, the scene of many crashes over the years.

Ames told Chief Deputy Don Campbell of the Sheriff’s Department that he did not see the on-coming vehicle. Impact to the Fiesta was on the driver’s side. The smaller car continued onto private property near a house.

Morrow was listed as not injured, but both Ames and his passenger, Toiuiana Robertson, 51, North Vernon, were hurt. Ames suffered possible injuries to his abdomen and pelvis. Robertson was listed with chest pain.

Each was treated by Scott County EMS personnel and then transported to Scott Memorial Hospital by ambulance.

Property damage was estimated at up to $10,000.

Chief Deputy Campbell was assisted at the scene by Deputy Joe Johnson.
