EHS comes up short at Regional PDF Print E-mail
Eastern proved early in Saturday’s first regional semi-final that they were there to stay. They bolted out to a fast start, but in the end a lack-luster second quarter did them in.
North Posey eventually won the game 42-38, but lost in the regional championship to North Knox.
The Lady Musketeers jumped out to an 11-4 run and then uncharecteristicly gave up 16 points in the second quarter.
The North Posey run turned a seven-point deficit into a 20-16 halftime lead.
Eastern had a number of opportunities, but in the end came up short.
Only four players managed to score for the Lady Musketeers.
Seniors Brooke Rodewig and Katie Ernstberger led the way with 14 and 10 points each, respectively. A pair of under classmen, Bailey England and Taylor Drury scored the remainder of the points.
England scored eight and Drury tossed in six points.
The loss ends a seasons of near misses for Eastern.
They finished with a 12-10 record, but only five of those were by more than 10 points. The other five were games they had opportunities to win.
Now the attention turns to next year where they will be tasked with replacing three seniors.
Rodewig and Ernstberger, as well as fellow senior Rachel Hamilton leave big shoes to fill.
The good news for Head Coach Mike McBride is they have plenty of young players who will be vying for those spots.
