|FC seniors go out with a win|
The Floyd Central High School girls’ basketball team celebrated senior night with a 64-59 win over Silver Creek last week.
The Lady Highlanders trailed at the end of the first quarter, but scored 23 points in the second quarter to take a 34-28 lead at intermission.
During the second quarter spurt, Riley Kaiser scored 10 of her game-high 24 points.
Kaiser added eight more in the final eight minutes to help seal the win.
FC also got 17 points from Madison Kaiser and 10 from Brianna Roth.
Alexis Barrett scored 17 to lead the Lady Dragons.
The tournament gets underway this week and the Lady Highlanders had one of the worst draws they could have gotten by facing the second-ranked BNL Lady Stars.
FC, which finished the regular season with a 9-10 record, lost to BNL during the regular season by 17 points.
The Lady Highlanders are playing their best basketball of the season, winning four of their last five games and five of their last seven.
Results from the Feb. 11 game against the Lady Stars were not available at press time and will appear in next week’s issue of The Banner Gazette.
