Lady Braves claim SAC crown PDF Print E-mail
The Borden Lady Braves (15-2) completed a perfect 5-0 Southern Athletic Conference season Monday, February 3rd with a 53-31 win over the visiting Henryville Lady Hornets (11-9, 4-1 SAC).
Borden Senior, Abby Ellis, scored the Lady Braves first 7 points to give the Lady Braves a 7-6 first quarter advantage. Strong team defense and the offensive of Ellis, Senior Carson Casey, and Sophomore Natalie Ruedinger helped the Lady Braves to a 23-10 halftime lead.
Henryville Sophomore Haley Huddleston scored all 7 of her points in the third quarter, but the Lady Hornets were unable to close the gap with Borden. Ruedinger continued to score for Borden working the baseline and hitting short jump shots. Ruedinger had 11 points in the quarter for the Lady Braves and helped extend the third quarter lead to a 42-20 Borden advantage.  Borden maintained a comfortable lead during the 4th quarter to complete the 53-31 victory.
The Lady Braves will play their next game in the New Washington Sectional Friday, February 14th. Regular season games with Clarksville and Springs Valley have been cancelled due to weather and have not been rescheduled. The Lady Hornets will play in the Eastern Sectional with a game Tuesday, February 11th.
