The ballroom of the Louisville Marriott Downtown will provide a mid-winter respite for hundreds of adults on Friday, Feb. 28, when they gather for fellowship, a festive meal, and chances to bid on escaping to a warmer climate.
From exclusive vacation packages in the West Indies and Amelia Island to golf outings, sports memorabilia, entertainment, and more, the silent auction portion of the annual Christian Academy Gala is only one highlight of the event presented by Norton Healthcare to raise money for the school system’s 3,000 students at its English Station, Rock Creek, and Southwest campuses in Louisville and Christian Academy of Indiana in New Albany.
The gala will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the hotel at 280 W. Jefferson St. The public is invited to purchase tickets ($75 each or tables of 10 for $750) on line at www.caschools.us/gala.
Other sponsors are: Premier--Tran Orthodontics; Gold--City on a Hill and Riverbend Financial Group; Silver--Corvus Janitorial Systems and Papa John’s; and Host--VanZandt, Emrich & Cary; The Dermatology Center; Oxmoor Toyota; Dunn Orthodontics; Crandall, Moses, Pera & Wilt; and Ashley/Roundtree and Associates and Financial Strategies Group.
Dr. Thom Rainer, president and CEO of LifeWay Christian Resources, a 5,000-employee organization based in Nashville, Tenn., is the gala’s guest speaker. He will share his perspectives as a former dean at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, pastor of four churches, author or co-author of 25 books, and parent of three Christian Academy alumni.
Organizers hope to top last year’s proceeds of $403,000. The money will support the annual fund of the Christian Academy School System, which is one of the largest Christian schools in the United States serving students who represent 350 churches of a variety of denominations. The annual fund helps provide tuition assistance, technology integration, professional development, fine arts, and athletics.
