Sellersburg Celebrates! announces 2014 dates, looking for volunteers PDF Print E-mail

Even though it is some seven months away, the Sellersburg Celebrates! Committee recently had their first planning meeting. During the meeting, the dates for the annual festival were announced and members were appointed to head different committees. Rick Cannon was named President of the 2014 Sellersburg Celebrates! Festival.

David Abbott, Debbie Bartley and Jim Meagher were appointed to help the committee with public relations for the upcoming festival set to be held Thursday, August 21 through Saturday, August 23. Others volunteering on the Sellersburg Celebrates! committee are: Earl Bonniville (past president), Richie Cannon (parade), Rick Cannon (president), Jim Cash (business expo), Kathy Combs (historian/ past president), Mike Crabtree (past president), Ray Dreyer (past president), Candi Graves (luncheon/ t-shirts), Bob Hauselman (accommodations, past president), Sara Hauselman (past president), Jan Jackson (baking contest), Kim Johnson (art show), Michael Killen (luncheon), Frank McCrory (balloon glow), Susan Miller (funding, past president), Connie Nunn (balloon glow, past president), Sandy Nunn (funding, past president), Betty Omicinski (past president), Stephanie Pruitt (past president), Terry Purlee (entertainment, past president), Diana Purlee (booths), Larry Quinn (past president), Logan Quinn (grounds), Bill Ramser (park trustee), Donald Ross, Jr. (security), Bob Shaw (website), Anita Spear (electric, princess contest), Ralph Spear (electric, food booths), Jerry Townsend, Kip Wagoner (entertainment), Martina Webster (luncheon), Pam West (kids games) and Glen Wisdom (past president).

“I am excited to get things going for this fantastic annual festival. I am honored to be able to help get the word out about the events and activities that will surround the excitement of Sellersburg Celebrates!,” stated Abbott. “I want to publicly thank Sellersburg Celebrates! President Rick Cannon for the opportunity to help promote the festival. I look forward to a great year and meeting new people on the committee. The tradition of Sellersburg Celebrates! has always been a first class festival and I look forward to continuing the long standing tradition of a first class festival.”

The Sellersburg Celebrates! Committee is now searching for volunteers to help make the festival a success. Volunteers are needed for many different areas of the three day festival including: parking, booth rentals, food court, trash pick up and entertainment.

“For any local festival, volunteers are always needed. Volunteers are what truly makes a festival successful. This would be a great opportunity to show your support of your local community. I encourage anyone wanting more information to volunteer to attend the next planning meeting,” Abbott stated.

The next meeting of Sellersburg Celebrates! will be held on Monday, February 17 at 7 p.m. The meeting will take place at Rock Creek Community Academy located at 11515 Highway 31 in Sellersburg.
