OLLIE M. SPARKS, 91, Charlestown, died Sunday, December 223, 2013.
She was a homemaker, a former member of Sunny Side Assembly of God and a former resident of Yellowwood Senior Apartments.
Survivors include her daughters: Sandie (Ronnie) Rowe of Jeffersonville, Cam (Jim) Custer and Debbie (Roger) Hilbert of Charlestown; her brother: Arnold (Harriett) Woodruff of Louisville; her sister: Mary (Jimmy) Williams of Louisville; her grandchildren: Bill and Mike Terhune, Rob and Bruce Custer, Dwayne Hilbert and Deanna Holladay; and multiple great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Harold Eugene Sparks, three brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, December 27, 2013 at Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 8 pm on Thursday, December 26, and after 9 am until the time of services on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Amedisys Hospice.

CHARLES E. MORRIS, 78, of Scottsburg, died Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Norton Hospital in Louisville.
He was born on January 27, 1935 in Salem to the late William Lotus (W.L.) and Helen (Jones) Morris.  He was retired from the Engine Quality Assurance Department for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, a member of the Scottsburg Presbyterian Church, a former reserve deputy for former Sheriff's Tommy Herald and John Lizenby, a member of the Amick-Baker-Kellems F.O. P. Lodge # 156, a former member of the Scottsburgh Lodge # 572 F & AM and the English Shrine Club.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Morris; two sons, Dean Morris and his wife Judy of Scottsburg, Indiana and Mike Morris and his wife Marla of Seymour, Indiana; two daughters, Carrie Peacock and her husband Steve of Deputy, Indiana and Shari Caldwell and her husband Steve of Aurora, Indiana; two brothers, Donald Morris and his wife Ardys of Bismarck, North Dakota and Robert L. Morris and his wife Martha of Scottsburg, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Candice Hatton, Codie Morris, Ashley Stallings, Andrea Lee, Tyler Morris, Stephany Hazelwood, Alex and Sam Caldwell and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a great grandson and best buddy, Jayce Stallings.
Funeral Service: 11:00 am Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013 at Collins Funeral Home with burial in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation: 4 to 8 pm Friday and after 9 am Saturday.

RICHARD “RICK” JACKSON, 56, Borden, died Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Kentuckiana Medical Center in Clarksville.
He worked for Kimball, Inc. in Borden, was a U.S. Army veteran, and a member of the Borden Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife: Lita Hurts of Borden; his sons: Forrest “Fory” Jackson, Borden; his daughter: Beverly “B.J.” Jackson of Borden; his brothers: Bill Jackson of Arizona and Tracy Beckett of Georgia; his sisters: Charlotte Henning of Kentucky and Donene Payne of Tennessee; and his grandchildren: McKenzii, Madisyn, Eric, Timothy and Elizabeth. He was preceded in death by his mother: Shirley Beckett, and a sister: Rhonda Jean Henning.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg, with cremation to follow.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 8 pm on Friday, December 27.

DOUGLAS ARTHUR “DOUG” HOSKINS, 70, of Crothersville, died Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at his home.
He was born September 1, 1943 in Big Willard, Ky., to the late William “John” McKinley Hoskins and Nell Hoskins who survives in Scott County. He retired from the former American Can in 1989 and then worked at Morgan’s Packing Company, Swains, Ashley Foundry, and Arvins. He served in the United States Army, and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Other survivors include a son, Chris (Connie) Hoskins of Crothersville, his grandchildren, Kelsey Hoskins of West Lafayette, and Noah Hoskins of Crothersville, his brothers, Fredis (Judy) Hoskins, of Scottsburg, Steve Hoskins of Austin, and David Hoskins, of Scottsburg, his sisters, Freda Smith of Crothersville, Isabel White of Crestwood, Ky., Elvira (Denny) Black of Crothersville, Mary Hendrix of Paris Crossing, Lynn Jaynes of Crothersville, Evelyn Maxie of Crothersville, and Lyvon (Will) Watts of Spencer, Ind. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delsie Faye Begley Hoskins, a sister, Dana Hoskins, and a granddaughter, Kayla Paige Hoskins.
Pastor Randy King will conduct funeral services at 1 pm on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Adams Funeral Home & Crematory in Crothersville with burial to follow at Uniontown Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5:00 until 9:00 PM on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Adams Funeral Home & Crematory in Crothersville and after Noon on Sunday at the funeral home.

LUCILLE BRINER RHUDE, 95, of Columbus, formerly of Crothersville, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Silver Oaks Health Campus in Columbus.
She was born August 14, 1918 in Crothersville, to the late Otto L. and Maude E. (Briner) Briner. She retired from the former U.S. Shoe Corp and also worked at Morgan Canning factory, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crothersville.
She is survived by three children, Robert D. (Judith) Rhude of Columbus, Janet Gayle (Roger) Nehrt of Crothersville, Maryilyn (Nick) Petrycki of North Canton, Oh., her grandchildren, Rebecca (Greg) Deuerling of Batavia, Ill., Marcia (Troy) Cheek of Columbus, Janelle (E.B.) Rawles of Sandborn, Ind., Kevin (Janelle) Nehrt of Midland, Mich., Joe (Amy) Petrycki of Mansfield, Oh., Jamie (Angie) Petrycki of Hillsboro, Oh., Jennifer (James) Belcik of North Ridgeville, Oh., and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James F. Rhude, and her siblings, Clarice Beineke, Harold Briner, Earl Briner, Lois Briner, Edna Meryl Myers, Marian Boicourt, and Everett Briner.
Reverend Jon Pearce will conduct funeral services at 1 pm on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Adams Funeral Home & Crematory in Crothersville, with burial to follow at Crothersville Cemetery.

PHYLLIS C. PERSINGER, 66, of Salem, died Tuesday, December 24 at her home.
She was born March 7, 1946 in Harlan, Ky., to Orville Sr. and Delora Witt Middleton.  She was a retired hairdresser and employee of Dan-Mar Pharmacy.  She was also a member of Salem Assembly of God.
She is survived by her husband:  Robert Persinger, her son:  Gary Persinger of Salem, her daughter:  Lori McPeak of Salem, her sisters: Anna Tegarden of Campbellsburg and Evalyn Brown of Salem, three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers:  Orville Middleton Jr and Walter Middleton and a sister:  Barbara Robinson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, December 27, 2013 at Weathers Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, December 26, and from 9 am until the time of services on Friday.


MARGERIE A. YOUNT, 94, of Scottsburg, died Monday, December 23, 2013 at Hampton Oaks Health Campus.
She was born on October 6, 1919 in Scott County to the late Thomas and Jane(Broady) Richey.  She was the former owner and operator of the old Roy's Hennery in Scott County, and a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Leota.
Survivors include her son, Ricky L. Yount and his wife Christine of Underwood; her sister, Delia Everhart of Scottsburg; six granddaughters and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy W. Yount, and her son, Roy Yount, Jr.
Memorial Service: 11:00 am Friday, January 3, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church in Leota. Memorial Contributions: Donor's Choice c/o Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg.

RALPH CODA, JR., 72, Charlestown, died Monday, December 23, 2013 at Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 29, 1941 in Hazard, Ky. to Ralph Sr. and Ollie Coda. He served as a Security Guard for K-Mart in Clarksville.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Wilmoth Coda; his daughters, Loretta Stafford(Darrell) and Kimberly Coda (Bert), both of Charlestown, and Sheilla Freeburg (Kerry) of New Albany; his sons, Ralph Coda III of Charlestown, Mike Hill(Kim) of Nabb, and Roscoe Combs of Scottsburg; his brothers, Johnny, J.W., and Ralph Combs; his sisters, Rita Amburgey, Salem, Armina Cole, Blocher, Ind., Jackie Ross, New Washington, Zola Combs, Connie Combs, both of Charlestown, and Veda Combs, Sellersburg; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown.
Visitation will be held from 12 pm until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.


TRACEY H. JACKSON, 86, Pekin, died Monday, December 23, 2013 at St. Vincent Salem Hospital.
She was born on August 16, 1927 in Bluemoon, Ky. to the late Lilburn B. Sr. and Fay H. Hatfield Hall. She was the owner of Tracey's Beauty Shop in Pekin and a member of the Pekin Church of Christ.
Survivors include her sons: Rex, Jeff and Joel Jackson, all of Salem; her brother: Lilburn B. Hall, Jr. of Greencastle, Ind.; her sisters: Norma Jean Smith of Salem, Carlie Bedford and Sandra Anderson, both of Pekin; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Martin A. Jackson; her daughter: Linda Gail Jolly; a brother and four sisters.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Dawalt Funeral Home. Burial followed at Crown Hill Cemetery.

REGHAN “SHORTCAKE” JAMES, 15, Palmyra, died Saturday, December 21, 2013.
She was born on November 6, 1998 to Chris and Lori James, who survive. She was a student at N.H. School.
Other survivors include her sister: Alexus James; her maternal grandparents: Henry and Jeanie Shafter; her paternal grandmother: Linda James; her aunt: Jama Cahill; her uncle: Derrick Cahill; and her cousins: Chandler and Colten Cahill.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, December 27, 2013 at Love Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Palmyra Cemetery.


HARRY E. BAKER, 92, Salem, died Monday, December 23, 2013 at Salem Crossing.
He was born December 29, 1920 in St. Louis, Mo. to the late Fred and Minnie Duncan Baker. He was retired from the Salem Community School System, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean War. He was also a member of Salem United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife: Miriam C. Curtis Baker; his son: Stephen C. (Cindy) Baker of Columbia City, Ind.; and his grandchildren: Nathan, Parker and Hayden.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, December 27, 2013 at Salem United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery with full military honors.
Visitation will take place at Dawalt Funeral Home from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, December 26, and at the church from 10 am until the time of services on Friday.

JAMES A.”JIMMY” WEBSTER, 66, Seymour, died Tuesday, December 10, 2013.
He was born on September 19, 1947 in Scottsburg to Chester A. and Lillian F. Hants Webster. He owned and operated Jim Webster Used Cars and worked for Bob Poynter GM and Ford. He last worked as a used car manager until his health declined.
Survivors include his wife: Patty Webster; his daughters: Sonya (Shannon) Smith of Scottsburg and Stephanie (Stacey) Jones of Lanesville; his grandchildren: Cody and Kelsey Smith, Hunter Cross, Lillian, Coen and Connor Jones; his brothers: Frank (JoAnn), Tommy (Diane) and Ricky Webster; and a large, extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter: Lisa Michelle Webster; his son: Timothy Brian Webster; his sister: Joyce Turner; and his brother: Chester L. Webster.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Burkholder Funeral Chapel in Seymour. Burial followed at Crothersville Cemetery.

PATSY DARLENE MILLER-BRYSON, 73 of Austin, died Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at Scott Memorial Hospital.
She was born on February 14, 1940 in Tampico, Ind., to the late Letcher and Nancy Lee Barrett Hounshell.  She was a homemaker and had attended the New Providence Baptist Church in Austin.
Survivors include her sons, Norman L. Miller and his wife Theresa and David E. Miller, all of Scottsburg, Marshall Miller of Austin, Daniel R. Miller and his wife Leona of Soddy Daisy, Tenn. and Timothy Miller and his wife Terri of Jacksonville, Fla;  her brother, Roy Caudell of Crothersville; her sisters, Edna Harbold of Underwood, and Irene Little of California, Ky.; seven grandchildren, Amy King (Jeremy), Rachelle Miller (James Zahn), Danielle Miller, Amanda Meredith (Chuck), Kristen Miller, Victoria Miller (Jake Madden) and Chance Miller and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Bryson.
A celebration of her life will be observed from 3 to 4 pm on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013 at the Collins Family Center in Scottsburg. Private burial of her cremated remains will be at a later date at Sodom Cemetery in Underwood.

JOSEPH ADAM TAYLOR, 35, of Clarksville, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was a former welder.
Survivors include his wife, Hanni Bragdon Taylor; his son, Adam Joseph Taylor of Clarksville; his daughters, Chloe Taylor, and Kayleigh Taylor, both of Clarksville; his father, Earl L. Wright of Charlestown; his step-children, Marissa and Shawn Patrick Russell; his sisters, Melissa Cruz of Clarksville, Angie Taylor of New Albany, Tracy Montgomery and Tammy Wright, both of Pekin, and Tanya Pace of Paoli; and his brother, Josh Wright of Paoli. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rita Wright and his sister, Jackie Brock.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 30, 2013 from 1pm to 8pm at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown.

STEVE E. DAVENPORT, 72, of Charlestown, died Monday, December 23, 2013 at St. Catherine Regional Hospital.
He was born on April 12, 1941 to Lee and Mary Crawford Davenport in Kingsport, Tenn. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a retired chemical worker for Rohm Haas in Louisville, a retired Fire Chief for Charlestown Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the VFW Post 1427, American Legion Post 204 in Sellersburg, member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Jeffersonville, and a member of the Henryville Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Maggard Davenport of Charlestown; his sons, Anthony D. and Samuel J. Davenport, both of Charlestown; his daughters, Kelly R. Peterson (Scott) of Eagle, Co., Krista M. Deal of Henryville, and Gretchen A. Keltner (John) of Charlestown; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at 2pm at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, with burial to follow in the Charlestown Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2pm to 8pm, and after 9am on Sunday. Masonic Services will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 7pm.

ROSE M. BAGLAN MELTON, 82, Madison, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at her home.
She was born on January 18, 1931 in Madison to the late Enos and Katie Giltner Baglan. She worked as a bookkeeper in various businesses in Madison and at Sentry Insurance Company in Stevens Point, Wis. She had attended Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Madison and had been a member of Saint John Catholic Church in Carrollton, Ky.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan Marie Melton of Madison; her son, Michael Wayne Melton and his wife, Evelyn, of Madison; her sister, Virginia Vaughn of Fishers, Ind.; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Melton, her sister, Catherine Westrick, her brothers, Enos, Nicholas, William, and Alfred Baglan.
A funeral mass will be held Saturday, December 28, 2013 at St. Patrick Catholic Chapel in Madison. Burial will follow at Springdale Cemetery in downtown Madison.
Visitation will take place at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, December 27, and from 9 to 10:30 am on Saturday.
A Rosary prayer service will be held at the funeral home beginning at 7:30 pm on Friday night.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the National Parkinson Foundation.


JAZLYN DENISE PEARCY, 5, Fort Knox, Ky., formerly of Scott County, died Sunday, December 22, 2013 at her home.
She was born on May 14, 2008 in Fort Lewis, Wash. to Brian S. and Jennifer Harbold Pearcy, who survive. She was a student at Pierce Elementary School in Fort Knox, and had previously attended Johnson Elementary School in Scott County. She was a member of Frontline Christian Ministries in Austin.
Other survivors include her sister: Alexys Nicole Pearcy of Fort Knox; her service dog: Brando; her grandparents: Jim and Dessalena Williams, Dick and Martha Hough, Scott and Leah Pearcy, all of Scottsburg, Buck Harbold of Mumfordville, Ky., Tracy Greenup of Elizabethtown, Ky., Keith and Jami Landers of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; seven aunts, six uncles, eleven cousins, five great-grandmothers, two great-grandfathers; several great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her great-grandfather, Everitt Williams; and her great great grandmother, Lillie Mae Everitt Williams Daniel.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, December 27, 2013 at Frontline Christian Ministries. Burial will follow at the Cravens Cemetery in Vienna.
Visitation will take place at the church from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, December 26, and from 10 am until the time of services on Friday.
Arrangements are being handled by Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre.
