Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services announced today that it has received $20,195 in grant funding from the Cardinal Health Foundation for operating room safety and efficiency.
Specifically, Floyd Memorial will use funding from the Cardinal Health Foundation to purchase items such as electronic boards for all OR rooms; a tool for communicating important information regarding each surgical case, educational DVDs, books, staff training hours and more.
Surgical Services Nurse Educator, Connie Nichols, RN, BSN, couldn’t be more pleased. “At Floyd Memorial we are committed to the patients we serve and want the best outcomes for our surgical patients. It is wonderful to be awarded this grant by the Cardinal Health Foundation, a company, who like us, clearly has the best interest of the patient at heart.”
Since its inception in 2008, the E3 Grant Program has awarded more than 200 grants, totaling $6.15 million, to healthcare institutions across the U.S. to advance the effectiveness, efficiency and excellence of healthcare. The program has generated millions of dollars in cost savings, with the most recent grantees focused on reducing medication errors reporting savings of more than $11 million.
“We are encouraged by the impressive outcomes that previous grant recipients have made from the use of our E3 grants,” said Dianne Radigan, vice president of Community Relations at Cardinal Health. “There have been major strides in medication and OR safety leading to lower readmission rates, significant cost savings and, most importantly, better patient outcomes. We congratulate Floyd Memorial and their work to achieve similar meaningful, long-term improvements.”
