Two people were injured at the north end of Marshfield Bridge on U.S. Highway 31 when vehicles collided on Friday evening, November 22.
Sandra K.Colvin, 61, Salem, was waiting to turn south onto U.S. 31 from Marshfield Road a little after 6 p.m. She told Deputy Joe Johnson that she saw no traffic coming, so she pulled her 1998 Olds 88 onto the state highway and was struck by a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix being driven north by Roberto Garza, 71, Austin.
Colvin was not injured, according to the officer’s report, but Garza experienced chest pain after the impact. His passenger, Oralia Garza, 72, Austin, suffered abdominal/pelvic pain.
Both were treated by Scott County EMS technicians and then transported to Scott Memorial Hospital.
Both vehicles were heavily damaged and were towed from the scene. Deputy Johnson estimated property damage at up to $50,000.
Assisting the deputy at the scene were Deputy Jeremy Arnold and Scottsburg Patrolman James Vires.
