Pssstt! Hey, buddy, want to get a nice used Lexus?

Well, the Knights of Columbus Hall on U.S.Highway 31 North in Scottsburg will be the place to do just that and more this Saturday, November 23, during the annual Kids First Auction.

Kids First is the local non-profit organization which raises money through a fun, fabulous auction that normally lasts into  the wee hours of the following Sunday morning. All funds raised by Kids First are used to help children and families in difficult financial straits throughout the year.

Through the years that Kids First has operated, families with sick children have received money for medicine, medical aids and gas. Working with the Scott County Community Clearinghouse, Kids First has helped others with housing and utility expenses. A donation to Kids First is truly “the gift that keeps on giving.”

Over the past several months, dedicated volunteers have collected, sorted and placed a variety of items into over 1,000 lots.

They’ve got hand-loomed rugs, tools, lots of sports-related memorabilia, some great hand-crafted bird houses by Bob Babbs and, of course, that Lexus ES300.

It’s a nice-looking car and the second donated for the auction by Wheel and Deal Auto Sales, located just north of Coffee Pot Curve on U.S. Highway 31. The business also donated a car last year.

Not interested in a car? How about a pedal car for young children?

Yes, that and lots of bicycles for adults and children and toys are in the auction as well. Plenty of glittering jewelry will be up for grabs, including a diamond ring.

And talk about gift certificates! Area businesses have been extremely generous.

Lucky bidders could win everything from spa visits to oil changes, great meals and stylish haircuts. All in all, over 100 lots have been put together thus far, and organizers aren’t done yet.

Tickets for a trip to Disney World in Florida are also included among the collection.

Anyone who wants to preview some of the auction items can do so by going to
