|Marching Band of Pirates takes Gold|
The Charlestown Band of Pirates marched to victory with their “Of Lords and Peasants” show. On October 5, the Band of Pirates competed at the Salem Invitational despite rainy weather. They were awarded second place and best color guard. Corydon Central took first place and West Washington took third place. The Pirates then proceeded to The Indiana State School Music Association Scholastic Preliminary at Jasper High School on October 12. The bands were judged and rated either a gold, silver or bronze. The Band of Pirates was awarded a gold rating. This is the second gold rating the Marching Band has received in three years under Daniel Peterson’s directorship. The other schools receiving gold ratings were Corydon Central, Salem and Pekin Eastern. These bands will move forward to compete in the ISSMA Scholastic finals at Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis on October 26.
