Grace Christian Academy of Scottsburg has begun its fourth academic year this fall offering families a great place for families to send their children to receive a Christian Education.

Director Dana Bracey has been working diligently to make sure the students get what they need educationally and will continue to do so in the future. Presently, plans are being made to create a beautiful and meaningful playground for the students at Grace Christian Academy.

This playground will be dedicated to Jennifer Amos, whose daughter, Emily Amos, attends Grace Christian Academy and is in second grade. The school is working closely with Emily’s father, Marcus Amos, to fund this effort.

Jennifer was a loving mother and faithful servant of Christ and had a strong desire for her daughter to be in Christian Education. Sadly, Jennifer passed away while Emily was just a kindergarten student at Grace Christian Academy on February 28, 2012.

This memorial playground would serve as a constant reminder of a mother’s love and create a safe and fun place for children to laugh, play and celebrate life.

The goal of Grace Christian Academy is to raise at least $15,000 for the first initial phase of the playground, with additional phases being added as monies come available.

“We are asking people that knew Jennifer, or those who knew of her, as well as individuals, civic organizations, businesses, industries as well as area churches who can be a part of providing some smile to a child’s face and to hear their laughter when they go out to the playground,” noted Marcus Amos.

“Churches may also take up special offerings during a service to help with the cost of this project. We have children all over the community attending and this will benefit a great number of students for years to come. Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, friends of students can all take part in this project.”

“We want to help make this playground a lasting tribute to Jennifer and in return this will provide so much more to the students that will get to enjoy it with each passing year at Grace Christian Academy,” stated Marcus Amos

“Plans are to design the playground with things she enjoyed and what she enjoyed seeing our daughter, Emily play on. Jennifer loved nature and the beauty that God created, so a lot of those ideas will be a part of the design of this playground,” noted Marcus Amos.

Donations and memorial contributions to honor Jennifer’s memory with this new playground may now be made in several different ways:
