This has been a good year for local boys’ cross country teams. On Saturday, Sept. 21, Borden’s boys won the Crawford County Invitaional and the Eastern team came in second out of 29 teams. 

Borden had a combined time of 89:28 for the top 5.

Brave runners were, sophomore, Julien Magallanes-winner of all grades with a time of 16:13; George Tipker: 17:29 6th place senior; Nathen Magallanes: 17:45 7th place senior; Gavin Tipker: 17:48 6th place junior; Brian McGee: 19:56 31st place senior; David Wright: 20:13 43rd place junior; Will Little: 20:20 43rd place sophomore and Drew McKinley: 21:53 46th place freshman.

In the junior race for the Musketeers, Khalil McDaniel finished in first place with a time of 16:59. Other top 15 medal winners in their respective races were seniors Dalton Jackson and Reid Prindle and sophomores Josh Ratts and Alex Hobson.

“This was great meet for the guys,” said Head Coach Mark Olesh. “They have been working really hard and it’s starting to pay off. Beating several conference and sectional teams is one of our goals and the results are starting to show this is happening.”

Borden’s Girls’ team was incomplete for the race, but individual runners were: Brooklyn Agnew:  23:24 16th place sophomore; Kate Gertin: 25:10 26th place freshman; Abby Ellis:  25:16 27th place senior and Courtney Welp: 27:28 40th place senior.

The Eastern team finished in first place at the 11-team Paoli Invitational last week.

It was their first team first-place finish of the season.

Khalil McDaniel finished in 1st place out of 67 runners with a time of 16:46.

Other medal winners were Reid Prindle, Josh Ratts, Dalton Jackson, Dakota Jackson, and Cody Shepherd.

In the JV race, Brandon Eberle brought home a second-place ribbon for his performance
