A carnival atmosphere will envelop the grounds at Faithpoint United Methodist Church on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 7 and 8, for a celebration of its 10 years of ministry.
The public is invited to the free “Faith.10 Jubilee” at the church, 6694 Hwy. 150 at Navilleton Road in Floyds Knobs, from 5 to 8 p.m. that Saturday and from 9:30 a.m. to noon that Sunday “as a way to thank the community for an amazing decade,” said Lyn Powers of the planning committee.
Games for the young and not-so-young, a live band, sno cones, cotton candy, and other carnival foods will highlight Saturday’s activities, which will create times of fellowship for families and individuals of all ages, Powers added. She is assisted on the planning committee by Julie Aemmer, Laura Gipe, and Jan Sherrell.
The celebration of life, growth, and community will continue Sunday with a breakfast at 9:30 a.m., followed by worship at 10:30, led by founding pastor Dr. George Wasson, who was assigned by the Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church to plant a church in that area in 2003.
Throughout the morning, members will reflect on those beginnings, sing, share pictures and testimonies, welcome new members, and “refresh our vision for the future,” said Rev. Wasson, who also will baptize those who have professed faith in Jesus Christ. The worship center will house the entire celebration, with activity centers for the young children.
