?    Both the Austin High School and Scottsburg High School boys’ cross country teams ran at the New Washington and Eastern invitationals held on September 29 and October 2.
    At New Washington, Austin’s Jeffery Johnson placed first in a time of 17:08,. With three other teammates placing in the top 12, the effort placed the Eagles first with a score of 45.
    Scottsburg had two teams. Team no. 1 placed fifth with a score of 145, and Team no. 2 was 15th with a score of 356. The Warriors were led by Logan Wells, who was 14th in 18:22.
    Austin’s runners and their finishes were: Johnson, first in 17:08; Craig Shelton, 5th in 18:02; Lee Riley, 10th in 18:15; Zach Halcomb, 12th in 18:19; Jeremy Johnson, 17th in 18:41; Joe Wooten, 30th in 19:30; and Zachary Johnson, 41st in 20:02.
    Scottsburg’s Team no. 1 harriers were: Wells, 14th in 18:22;
Codee LaMaster, 24th in 19:06; Steven Spencer, 26th in 19:16; and Kyle Brennerman, 39th in 19:58.
    Team no. 2 was: Adam Crump, 57th in 20:26; Kevin Carey, 63rd in 20:40; Felix Neace, 65th in 20:52; Jesse Little, 82nd in 22:07; and Josh Palmer, 89th in 24:33.
    At Pekin on October 2, the Eagles repeated their winning performance, bringing home the gold with a score of 78.
    In this race, Jeffery Johnson placed third in 17:07 behind Providence’s Oliver Book, who won in a time of 16:36, and J.T. Wink of Clarksville, whose time was 16:52.
    Kris Sandlin led the Warriors home, taking 9th in 17:36.
    Austin runners’ results: Johnson, 3rd in 17:07; Shelton, 10th in 17:38; Riley, 16th in 18:04; Halcomb, 17th in 18:08; Jeremy Johnson, 36th in 19:08; Jeremiah Kearns, 45th in 19:25; Joe Wooten, 50th in 19:31; Zachary Johnson, 61st in 19:45.
    For the Warriors: Sandlin, 9th in 17:36; Wells, 19th in 18:15; LaMaster, 47th in 19:28; Micah Konkler, 70th in 20:06; and Brennerman, 79th in 20:24.
    As a team, the Warriors finished seventh with a total of 213 in a field of 18 teams.
