A Sellersburg man, Joey Verble, 46, was fatally stabbed on Mt. Eden Road which is a half mile off State Roard 39 near Little York late Thursday night. 

David Hook, 45, was arrested and charged with murder and being an habitual felony offender in connection with the death.

According to a press release issued by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, Verble was struck multiple times in the head with a claw hammer and stabbed mulitple times  in the neck and chest resulting in his death.

Washington County Sheriff’s Department Captain Roger Newlon said they were called to investigate a stabbing that took place on the roadway at 10:27 p.m. Thursday night where they found Verble dead.

The two men were acquaintances, according to Newlon.

The investigation continues.
