West Washington 48 Eastern 8
West Washington's Tyler Dunn carried the ball 34 times for 273 yard (unofficially) and the Senators are 1-0 to start the season.
Head Coach Phillip Bowsman said not to take anything away from Eastern, but there were several additional changes to score that his team take advantage of.
"For us it's not about the score, if we are out there we want to execute and we let a couple of opportunities slip away tonight," he said.
Madison 24 Charlestown 7
The Charlestown Pirates made a deep run in the state tournament last year, but are off to an 0-1 start after falling to Madison 24-7.
Head Coach Jason Hawkins entered the meeting with a 5-1 record against the Cubs, but lost for just the second time in seven games against the Hoosier Hills Conference foe.
Paoli 29 Salem 20
After trailing 22-7, the Salem Lions mounted a furious comeback under first-year Head Coach RJ Hartsfield.
Entering the contest Salem had lost five in a row to the host Rams. The last four by a combined score of 157-7.
In the end, the result was the same, but Salem showed more fight than they have in recent years.
Male 62 Floyd Central 16
The home team had won every game in the three-year series between Floyd Central and Louisville Male. If that held true tonight, the host Highlanders were set for victory.
The Bulldogs didn't waste time in finalizing the outcome as they rolled to the 62-16 victory.
North Harrison 26 Crawford County 12
Crawford County has struggled since starting a varsity program in 2007, but the Wolfpack numbers are up this year and that seems to indicate more talent as they gave North Harrison all they could handle in the season opener for both teams.
While the outcome was close, Crawford is still 7-1 after tonight's 19-12 win.
