Walk to raise awareness for ALS PDF Print E-mail

Kyleigh Mazer, an 18-year-old Senior Girl Scout from Floyds Knobs has been raising awareness in our local community about Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or ALS, a crippling disease through presentations and informational flyers.

She is now hosting an awareness walk which will take place at 10 a.m. on August 10 at the Floyd Central High School baseball field. The baseball field is a significant location because a famous baseball player, Lou Gehrig, was also afflicted with the disease.
There will be information at the walk about how you can help fight this disease as well as how you can make donations to the ALS Association in our community.
Kyleigh is encouraging the families of ALS suffers to create T-shirts that identify the families as they walk the bases to show support for the fight against ALS.
Kyleigh has a personal interest in this battle since she recently lost her grandfather to ALS and sees his spirit in others similarly afflicted.
Come show you support as she hosts this first annual walk.  There is no cost to walk and each walker will receive a special treat as they finish the walk.
