LLOYD V. “HANK” ANDERSON, JR., 81, Madison, died Sunday, August 4, 2013 at King's Daughters' Hospital.
He was born January 10, 1932 in Chicago, Ill. to Lloyd V. Sr. and Esther Eklund Anderson. He was a retired sales engineer with Clifty Engineering of Madison and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Madison Moose Lodge No. 765, Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion, and the Madison VFW Post 1969.
Survivors include his daughters, Susan Morgan and her husband, Foster; Jenny Keeton and her husband, Mike; Jill Holt; Sandy Jones and her husband, Lance all of Madison, Indiana; his sons, Michael Anderson of Augusta, Georgia and John Anderson of Madison, Indiana; his step son, Richard Rankin of Madison, Indiana; his step daughter, Nancy Rankin of Madison, Indiana; his sister in law, Connie Hollowell and her husband, Gene of Seymour, Indiana; his brother in law, George Finch of Indianapolis, Indiana; his grandchildren, Brent Morgan, Lindsay Vigil (Tony), Eric & Alec Anderson; Nicholas Anderson, Josh Schmidt (Mandi), Kayla Schmidt, Hannah Holt, and Logan & Luke Jones; his great grandchildren, Owen Schmidt, Henry Schmidt, Jackson Vigil, and Olivia Horton, his step grandchildren, Saige Sentell, John and Jenny Rankin, several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Dorothy M. Hill Anderson; his second wife, Alma L. Davis Anderson; his brother, John Anderson; and his sisters, Virginia Finch and Felicia Burns.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial will follow at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison with full military honors. A final salute will be conducted at 11:30 am by Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday, August 7, and from 9 am until the time of services on Thursday.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Lung Association or the Jefferson County Animal Shelter.


THELMA RICE, 81,  Riverview, Fla.(formally of Austin) died Saturday,  August 3, 2013  in Sun City Center Hospice House in Ruskin, Fla.
She was born July 7, 1932 in Panco, Ky., to the late Herbert  Hensley  and Maude  (Couch) Hensley.
Survivors include: Sons: Stanley Rice, Tampa, Fla., Chester Rice, Savannah, Ga., Lester Rice, Tampa, Fla., Ernest Edward Rice, Savannah, Daughters: Pauline Harris, Riverview, Fla., Kathleen Pearson, Tampa, Fla. Brothers: Ernest Hensley, Saul, Ky., Eldern Hensley, Blocher, Ky. Sister: Delphia Rice, Austin. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Rice.
Funeral Service will be at  5:00 pm Friday, 8/9/2013 at Buchanan Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 3 to 5 pm Friday at Buchanan Funeral Home.
Graveside Services will be Saturday August 10, 2013 from 12 noon to 1:30pm at Granville Rice Cemetery in Saul, Ky.

RITA F. WRAY, 70, Lexington, died Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Kindred Hospital in Louisville.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter: Ruth (Anthony) Dodge of Lexington; her brothers: Jim Blevins of New Albany and Junior Blevins of Clarksville; her sister: Maxine Griffin of Paoli; and her grandsons: Joshua and Mark Dodge. She was preceded in death by her husband: George Buford Wray; and her mother: Nanol Blevins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Garr Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sellersburg Cemetery.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 8 pm on Wednesday, August 7.


DANIEL CALDWELL SR., 65, Lexington, died Monday, August 5, 2013 at Floyd Memorial Hospital.
He was born on July 12, 1948 in Huntsville, Tenn. to Jake and Princess Farmer Caldwell. He was retired from Bethlehem Steel in Michigan City, Ind.. a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and a member of the New Bethel Community Church in Lexington and a former Commander of the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife Tammy Shelton Caldwell; whom he married August 12, 2006; daughter, Terry Lynn Allen and her husband Joe of Palmyra; sons, Daniel Caldwell Jr. and his wife Sara of Madison and Jason Douglas Caldwell of Michigan City, brothers, Verlin and Wayne Caldwell of TN, Claude Caldwell of Cincinnati, Oh.; sister, Vicky of Knoxville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Kayla, Shelby, Robert, Kimberly, Joey, Amber, Danny, Caitlyn, Courtney, Paige and Nia; great-grandchildren, Christian, Jayden, Annabella and Dalton; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Raymond and Anna Lee Shelton of Lexington. and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Hayes and Lloyd Caldwell and half-sisters Birdie and Eva.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Friday, August 9, 2013 at Grayson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in New Bethel Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm on Thursday, August 8, and from 11 am until the time of services on Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Bethel Church Missions or the Medical Equipment Ministry.


THOMAS CHARLES “CHUCK” HARRIS, 74, Scottsburg, died Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Louisville.
He was born on January 6, 1939 in Junction, Tex. to Thomas Alvin and Ozella Adkins Harris. He was a retired union electrician and a member of the City on a Hill Church.
Survivors include his Wife: Dee Harris, Scottsburg; Son: Thomas Clinton Harris, Scottsburg; Daughter: Holly C Richey (Max W), Lexington; Sister: Nada Sparks (CL) Frisco Tex.; Grandchildren: Summer Graham, Autumn Campbell, Shaina Richey, Eric Richey; Great Grandchildren: Isaiah Haven, Elias Haven, Israel McIntosh, Jacob Graham, Landon Copple; Many nieces & Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Twila Charwayne Harris; brothers James F., Alvin Leon, and Eddie L. Harris.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 9, 2013 at Stewart & Hoagland Funeral Home. Burial followed at Lexington Cemetery.

BETTY SUE DEUTSCH, 66, Charlestown, died Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the University of Louisville Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late James C. and Mary L. Stone. She retired from Clark Memorial Hospital and was a pharmacy tech at St. Catherine Hospital.
Survivors include her sons: Michael A. (Suzie) and Stephen A. (Melanie) Deutsch, both of Clarksville; her daughter: Tammy S. (Andrew) Herrold of Charlestown; her brothers: James “Buster” Stone of New Albany and William “Sonny” Stone of Louisville; her sisters: Patricia “Pat” Campbell and Mary Jean Fugate, both of Jeffersonville; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband: Lanny A. Deutsch.
No services have been announced. Cremation was chosen.

BETTY JO HARDIN, 62, Salem, died Thursday, August 8, 2013 at her residence.
She was born on January 16, 1951 in Salem to the late Harold C. and Mary E. Brown Chastain. She was a homemaker and a member of the Faith Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons: Joseph and Christopher Hardin, both of Salem; her sister: Lou Ann (Larry) Hamilton of Salem; and her brothers: Ray Chastain of Georgia, Dennis (Lavon) and Tom (Lisa) Chastain, both of Salem. She was preceded in death by her daughter: Ireka I. Hardin; her brothers: McIvin, Marvin, Jim, Merle and Hubert Chastain; and her sister: Retta Durden.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Dawalt Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Franklin Cemetery.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 pm on Saturday, August 10, and from 11 am until the time of services on Sunday.

BRIAN JEFFREY LUECKE, 26, Laconia, died Saturday, August 10, 2013 at University of Louisville Hospital.
He was born on June 21, 2013 to Earl and Ruth Peters Luecke of Elizabeth, Ind., who survive. He was a trackman for Norfolk-Southern Railroad.
Other survivors include his brother: Rhett (Danielle) Luecke of Jeffersonville; and his grandmother: Goldie Luecke of Tell City, Ind. He was preceded in death by his brother: Jeffrey Luecke; and his grandparents: Herman Luecke and Chauncey and Irene Peters.
A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lanesville. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will take place at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon from 12 to 8 pm on Tuesday, August 13, and from 9 am until the time of services on Wednesday. A Rosary service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday beginning at 6:30 pm.


BETTY J. FARR SHIRLEY, 76, Brownstown, died Friday, August 9, 2013. She was lifelong resident of Tampico, Ind. with a heart of gold and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was born December 7, 1936 in Crothersville to George Albert Farr and Thelma E. Hoevener Farr. She was retired from Aisin and was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Austin.
Survivors include her children, Kathy (Larry Stuckwisch) Lakins, Tampico; Penny (Bob) Fleetwood, Bedford; Margie (George) Humphrey, Vallonia; Larry Shirley, Tampico; Kathy (Mike) McKain, Seymour; Tracey (Johnny) Seniours, Seymour; eleven grandchildren, Lani McIntosh, Columbus; Chadd Wehmiller, Commiskey; Amanda Parker, Bedford; Kelli Brock, Bedford; Jamy Selfridge, South Carolina; Tyler Selfridge, Norman, Ind.; Michael McKain, Athens, Georgia; Andrew McKain, Knoxville, Tenn.; Samantha McKain, Seymour; Leigha Galicia, Columbus; Corey Brown, Westport, Ind.; 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bobby J. Shirley, and her son, Kevin Scott Holland.
Rev. Block will conduct funeral services at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Adams Funeral Home & Crematory in Crothersville. Burial will follow at Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Dudleytown, IN.
Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, August 12, 2013 at Adams Funeral Home and after 8:00 AM on Tuesday at Adams Funeral Home.

IRMA ROSE KRUER BIERMAN, 91, died Saturday, August 10, 2013 at St. Paul Hermitage in Beech Grove, Ind.
She was born on December 22, 1921 in Starlight to the late George, Sr. and Eleanor Sunderhaus Kruer. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Starlight.
She is survived by her sons, Douglas, Sr.(Dana), Mark, and Marcellus, Jr. (Kim); daughters, Sr. Sharon Bierman, OSB, LaVonna Christmas (Clyde), Donna Strohmeier, Paula Carter, Georgina Dupaquier (Kerry), Brenda Bierman and Bridget Kessinger (Mike); brother, George Kruer, Jr.; sisters, Norma Johns and Bonnie Huber Naville; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marcellus A. Bierman, brothers, Ambrose, Edward “Butch”, and Jude Kruer; sisters, Marcella Andres, Virginia Andres, Martha Schmidt, and Shirley Cooley.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 PM Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Ln., IN). A Prayer-Memorial Service will take place Tuesday evening at 7:30 PM at the funeral home. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

EVELYN W. NAPIER, 77, of Scottsburg, died Sunday,  August 11, 2013 at her residence.
She was born on June 3, 1936 in Perry County, Ky. to the late Dennis and Virley  Couch Wooten. She was a retired school teacher and taught fourth and sixth grades at Scottsburg Elementary School, as well as fourth grade at Lexington Elementary School, and was was a former middle school teacher at Yerkes Middle School in Yerkes, Ky. She attended Mt. Hebron Church in Scottsburg.
Survivors include her husband, Charles E. Napier; two daughters, Sheena Hickman and her husband Richard of Scottsburg, Indiana and Debbie Spicer of Yerkes, Kentucky; a son; three granddaughters, Lindsey Gary and her husband Stephen, Andrea Combs and her husband Johnathan and Aneica Couch and four great grandchildren, Alexis, Allie, Anthony and Aaron.

DEXTER RAWLEY SHARP, infant, Corydon, died August 11, 2013.
He was born in Corydon on June 29, 2013 to Stacy Brown and Clint Sharp.
Other survivors include two brothers- Kaleb and Brian Sharp, and two sisters- Kylie Sharp and Chloe Brown, all of Corydon, his grandparents- Adam and Michele Morsey of Corydon, Cathy Sharp of Corydon, and Thomas Sharp of Clarksville, Great Grandparents Dale and Carolyn Flock of Ramsey, Richard and Jo Ann Carmiakle of New Albany.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 7 PM at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home. Rev. Tim Johnson will officiate. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home in Corydon from 5 pm until the time of services on Thursday.


EVA L. HICKEY, 84, Georgetown, died Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Floyd Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Tomkinsville, Ky. on February 20, 1929 to Dewey and Lucy Temple Strickler Parsley. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her Son- Eddie Dean Hickey of Corydon, Daughters- Doris Faye Hardy of Georgetown, Hazel Anne Hickey of Clarksville, and  Nettie May Rowley (William) of Corydon, Brother-Kenneth Gordan Parsley, Sister- Norma Jean Reecer and Ruby Beasley both of Tompkinsville, seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband-Herbert H. Hickey, brothers- Stanley Hugh Parsley and Daniel Morris Parsley and sisters- Doris Cybil Mahaney, Geneva Pitchcock and Denio Blanche Petzold.
Funeral services will be held at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon on Friday at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Zoar Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home in Corydon on Friday from 11 am until the time of services.
