Eight local girls are returning home national champions. Yesterday, the DanceWorks Company dancers were named the National Dance Champions of Rainbow National Talent Competition in Wisconsin Dells, WI. The girls will be arriving home in New Albany at 6 p.m. tonight, and a crowd is expected to welcome them to the SIGS Sportsplex located at 4343 Security Parkway in New Albany.

The Pearl Team (ages 12-16) won several double platinum awards over the past week, one which qualified them to re-compete in the Grand Finale Showcase. After facing tough competition they walked away as “2013 Rising Star Teen National Grand Champions!”
Their fun and entertaining tap routine “Trolley Song” captivated the judges and landed them top honors at the competition. They also received the “National Al Gilbert Tap Excellence Award.”
Hannah Colin (age 8) performed a lyrical solo routine which won her the title “National Miss Petite Dancer of the Year.”
DanceWorks owners Ann Colin and April Atherton-Runes received recognition as “2013 Rainbow National Teacher of the Year.”
