The City of Charlestown Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the 5th Annual “Back to School Bash” on Saturday, July 27 in Greenway Park. In these tough times they want to make sure every kid has the supplies they need to be ready for the new school year.
Parks Department officials are requesting donations to help them buy school supplies, personal hygiene items, snack items and other items that will help local kids have a great school year. Please help them by making a financial donation, donating supplies.
You may also help by local students and promote your business. You may register with Parks Director Rhonda Davidson and come to Greenway Park on July 27 to give away supplies and promote your business.
The event will kick off at 5 p.m. If you choose to come to the park to participate you will need to have your booth set up by 4 p.m. The Parks Department will have tables available for you to use. They will be giving away 500 backpacks stuffed with school supplies and other items to Charlestown area kids in need grades kindergarten-12.
Please contact Davidson as soon as possible with what you would like to bring.
The Parks Department works hard to ensure this is a fun family night out that helps the kids get off to a great school year. There will also be inflatables for the kids, music and the Parks Department will be giving away hot dogs, chips, drinks and popsicles.
Any donation will help buy supplies and will be greatly appreciated. Backpacks not given away the night of July 27 are distributed to the schools by request of school faculty.
