Each year Wonder Valley Christian Camp has one week out of the summer that offers a chance for campers to learn a particular skill, during “Specialties Week.” This year soccer camp and martial arts camp will be added to the mix for the first time. This week of camp will be held July 7-12 and is for students who will enter the 5th-7th grades in the 2013 fall semester.
Soccer Camp is designed to uniquely offer a soccer skills camp in a Christian setting. Soccer is a fast-action, thinking sport played all over the world. Our camp is a low-pressure, mentor-peer environment that encourages new or developing players not only to play the game, but to love the sport. Campers will learn basic skills, technique improvement, and useful training ideas that will help them to become a quality player. Jamie Reynolds will be coaching soccer camp.
During Martial Arts Camp, campers will learn basic self-defense and fitness in a fun, Christ-centered way. The camp will also focus on helping campers grow in discipline, character and confidence. Brandon Swango will be heading up the martial arts section.
Specialties Week at Wonder Valley also includes Horse Camp, Craft Camp and Outdoor Sports Camp. Registration is still open each of these specialties, but there is not much time left to register. The Outdoor Sports Camp will give students a chance to learn about safety as it relates to hunting and fishing. Campers can also try out a variety of firearms and archery equipment in a highly supervised setting. Participants in the Outdoor Sports Camp can earn their Hunter’s Education card by passing the test at the end of the week.  Horse Camp allows students to travel to Davis Ranch in Hardinsburg for some hands-on equestrian experience.
During the week, campers will also have a chance to enjoy the other amenities of Wonder Valley, including rock climbing, the Giant Swing, water slide, swimming, kayaking and other recreational activities. Time will also be spent in Bible classes and praise and worship.
Openings are limited for Specialties Week, and registrations are accepted on first-come basis. Contact Wonder Valley Christian Camp at 812-883-4964 for a registration form and more information, or PDF versions of the registration forms can be downloaded from the camp’s web site, www.wondervalleycamp.com. Wonder Valley Christian Camp is located west of Salem, IN.
