HOWARD F. MONROE, 80, Corydon, died Monday, June 10, 2013 at his home.
He was born on January 3, 1933 near Corydon to the late Leonard and Genie Wilson Monroe. He was a retired Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army who served during the Korean War. After military retirement, he worked as a Service Manager at Gerdon Auto Sales for nearly 20 years. He was a member of the Corydon VFW Post #2950.
Survivors include is wife: Catherine Goldman Monroe; his daughter: Patricia Clark; his son: Leonard (Tracy) Monroe; his brothers: Thomas (Betty) and Dave (Tillie) Monroe; his sister: Juanita Williams, all of Corydon. Also surviving are his grandsons: Joshua (Jennifer Gilley) and David (Lela); his great-grandson: Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Friday, June 14, 2013 at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery near Corydon.
Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 11 am until 8 pm on Thursday, and from 9 am until the time of services on Friday.
LLOYD V. FARABEE, 92, Salem, died Monday, June 10, 2013 at Northwood Care Home.
He was born on October 30, 2013 in Washington County to Harold H. and Bertha Lillian Karnes Farabee. He was a retired Sergeant for the U.S. Army who served during World War II and a former employee of Eddie Gilstrap Motors. He was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church and a Life Time Member of VFW and American Legion.
Survivors include his son: Dr. Joseph A. Foistner of New Boston, New Hampshire, a brother: Oren Farabee of Borden, two grandchildren: Dr. Joseph A. Foistner II and Dr. Jennifer E. Stanhope-Prive and a great-granddaughter: Emma Grace Prive.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Johanna Farabee in 1994, a brother: Ernest Farabee, a sister: Mildred Bullington and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Weathers Funeral home. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation will be Friday from 4-8PM and Saturday from 9AM-time of service.
MELVA GRACE DAVIS, 79, Salem, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital in Salem.
She was born on November 14, 1933 in Clark County to David and Bertha Dean Bartle. She was a retired cook for West Washington School Corporation and a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband: Robert Rex Davis of Salem, three sons: Steven Davis (Barb), Mark Davis (Linda) and Eric Davis (Jana) all of Salem, four daughters: Kathy Wilson (John) of Campbellsburg, Carol Davis of Corydon, Brenda Boling (Chris) of Salem and Lori Martin (Steven) of Clarksville, a brother: Robert Bartle of Indianapolis, a sister-in-law: Ann Bartle of Scottsburg, 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers: Farrell, Elvin, Ray and Orris Bartle and a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Friday, June 14, 2013 at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Kansas Cemetery.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, June 13, and from 9 am until the time of services on Friday.

He was born on December 6, 1958 in Batesville to the late Lonzo Reed and Clara Eggen, who survives.

Va., Dan of Hillsboro, Ore., Dennis of Napoleon, Ind., Darrell of Cincinnati, Oh., Dale of Chapmanville, W. Va. and Doug of Chandler, Ariz.; his sisters, Diana of Charlestown, Donna Overstreet of Louisville, Debra Wiggers of Charlestown, Della Chapman of Cincinnati and Denise Bostic of Yawkey, W. Va.. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Darlene Riehle and Dawn.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Restoration Christian Church in Sellersburg. Burial will follow at Charlestown Cemetery immediately following the service.

NORVIN RAY STONE, 74, Borden, died Monday, June 10, 2013 at his home.
He was born on October 3, 1938 in Jeffersonville to the late Dempsie and Golda Stone. He was retired from Sears & Robuck, a member of Borden Community Church, and a former member of the Merry Maker Square Dance Club.
Survivors include his wife: Barbara Stone of Borden; his son: Thomas Stone of Borden; his daughter: Sandy (Jason) Thurman of Bloomingdale; his siblings: Bonnie Myers of Sellersburg, Bob (Doris) Stone of Jeffersonville, and Janice Phelps of Canal Fulton, Oh.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter: Beth Ann Stone; and his siblings: Alice Snyder May, Howard, Samuel and Paul Stone.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Borden Community Church. Cremation will follow.
Visitation will take place at Scott Funeral Home in Jeffersonville from 2 to 8 pm on Friday, June 14.

HAROLD G. “STRAWBERRY” SCHNEIDER, 78, Lanesville, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at his home.
He was born on September 7, 1934 in Harrison County to Edward J. and Agnes M. Schellenberger Schneider. He was owner and operator of the K & H Café in Lanesville from 1960 to 1995. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife: Marlene Litch Schneider of Lanesville; his sons: Matthew L. Schneider (Cathy) of Seymour and Dale E. Schneider (Connie) of Dallas, Tex.; his daughters: Pam J. Schneider and Patricia A. Bliss (Mark) both of New Albany; his brothers: Kenneth Schneider (Flo) and Herb Schneider (Amy) both of Lanesville, and Donald Schneider (Pat) of Indianapolis; his sister: Mary Eisert of Lanesville; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 am on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at St Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites.

ANDREW LINCOLN MCDANIEL, 49, Madison, died Monday, June 10, 2013 in Canaan, Ind.
He was born on November 24, 1963 in Scottsburg to Donald Lee McDaniel and Kay Frances Stearns White. He lived and worked on his farm outside Canaan and also owned and operated the Westport Locker and the City Meat Market. He was a member of the Hebron Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother; his step-father: Don White of Canaan; his sister: Donna (Mark) Gardener of Austin; his brother: Mark (Paula) McDaniel of Lexington; his step-sisters: April (Brian) Lennon of Vevay and Regina White of Rising Sun, Ind.; his step-brothers: Kevin White if Rising Sun and Eric White of Lawrenceburg, Ind.; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; his paternal grandparents: Theodore and Daisy McDaniel; his maternal grandparents: Isaac and Cecella Stearns; and his uncle: Irvin McDaniel.

He was born on December 10, 1948 in Scottsburg to the late Keen and Lula Longdon Campbell. He was retired from The Plumbers Supply and was a member of the Blocher Methodist Church.

She was born on February 21, 1927 in Cambridge, Conn. to the late Thaddeus Edwards and Anne Bennett Edwards. She was a retired teacher, librarian and leader of the community within the Muncie Indiana Community School System. She also served as the executive secretary for Francis P. Whitehair, the Under Secretary of the U.S. Navy under President Harry S. Truman. She was a member of the Blue River Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband: Daniel Mattox; her sons: Daniel R. Mattox of Mead, Colo. and Timothy E. Mattox of Fallbrook, Calif.; her daughter: Jo S. Owens of Salem; her brother: George Edwards of Florida; her sister: Lillian Olsen of Plantation, Fla.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers.
