On Tuesday, May 28, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Master Trooper Mary Sanchez and Detective Tracy Spencer from the Indiana State Police Post at Sellersburg arrested Lisa Keown, 49, from Charlestown, at her residence. The arrest was made on an active arrest warrant issued out of the Floyd County Superior Court #1 for the charges of Forgery, (15 counts), Class C Felony and Insurance Fraud, (14 counts), D Felony.
The arrest came after an investigation that began in early April of this year when the Indiana State Police received information of a suspected stolen and forged controlled substance prescription. The alleged fraudulent prescription was written for Oxycodone and presented at a Clark County pharmacy in April for a Lisa Keown. The pharmacist on duty contacted the practitioner whose DEA Number was written on the prescription to verify the validity of the prescription. The pharmacist was then told that the prescription was fraudulent.
During the investigation in Floyd County the investigating detective identified approximately 28 alleged stolen, forged and fraudulent controlled substance prescriptions. The prescriptions were allegedly written for approximately 2,490 Oxycodone tablets. The alleged stolen blank prescription pad was taken from a Clark County medical facility in which Lisa Keown was employed as a nurse.
The stolen, forged and fraudulent controlled substance prescriptions were taken to pharmacies in Clark and Floyd Counties in Indiana during the period of November 2011 up to April 2013. The prescriptions were allegedly paid for with Lisa Keown’s insurance.
Lisa Keown was incarcerated at the Floyd County Jail awaiting her first court appearance.
This investigation is continuing.
